10 Million Subscribers for WoW

The massive multiplayer online MMORPG game has reached no less than 10 million subscribers worldwide, and according to Blizzard Entertainment, the largest number of fans is located in Asia, where the company counted 5.5 million gamers. Then comes North America with over 2.5 million and Europe with 2 million.
"It's very gratifying to see gamers around the world continuing to show such enthusiasm and support for World of Warcraft," declares Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We're always pleased to welcome new players to the game, and we're looking forward to sharing the next major content update with the entire community in the months ahead."
It is indeed the most popular MMORPG game around the world, since the start, when it was opened in North America on November 23 2004. Since then it become a best seller in 2005 and 2006 in all countries in the world, while The Burning Crusade expansion pack has beat the record of fastest sold PC game of all time reaching 2.4 million copies in just the first 24 hours and 3.5 million in the first month.

World of Warcraft is advancing continuously with Russia expecting its language version to be released this year.
Blizzard Entertainment explains what a subscriber is: a person who has paid the subscription tax or has an active prepaid card for WoW, as well as those that have purchased the game and still have the free month trial.
Included are also the Internet Game Room players who had access at WoW during the last 30 days.
