Fast Finish

Have you ever tried to play again the game you just finished, but at a much quicker pace? Many gamers have tried that and they also used video capturing software to prove it. Such is the case in the video below, where a gamer, Richard Karlsson, finishes the game Alien vs. Predator Primal Hunt in just 9 minutes and 36 seconds. Obviously, when you already know where to duck and where to shoot beforehand, so that the enemies jump straight into the bullets, it's quite an easy and  fast way to win.

Wallmart Sells PS3 Controllers In Xbox Stand

Apparently every once in a while some employee who comes from a party and had probably "too much" fun, makes a funny choise that make the customers burst into laugh. The truth is that we do not know exactly why and how the PS3 controllers in the images below have been placed into an Xbox stand, but the gaming-passionate customer though (just like us) it was funny and took some pictures so that his friends would believe and laugh with him. We could suspect a new marketing strategy, but it's highly unlikely and the images were taken before Wallmart noticed and corrected the error.

Jade Raymond Interviews Hideo Kojima

 Hideo and Jade

Jade Raymond (the young lady in the image above) who was a bit irritated by the actions of a hilarious community some time ago, as the representative of Ubisoft, she had an interview with Hideo Kojima (image above, in the middle), the game designer and creator of Metal Gear Solid series. Kojima's points and perspective on video game violence is very interesting:

"I don't think there are many games that tackle violence head on...When you hit someone or inflict pain, faces get disfigured for example, and I want to make games that show that sort of thing. (...) If you don't see the pain, you can't understand what you've done, and you'll pass through battles without taking responsibility for your actions. I don't want to ignore that. I want players to think, even if it's just a little, about what violence and war are."

So there you have it, a game creator who actually is interested how his games will be perceived and understood by the simple gamers - such experiences shouldn't be shallow.

Team Fortress 2 Update

TF2

The latest update news buletin confirms that there are some hotfixes and tweaks on the way for the TF2 multiplayer-shooter game. Among the improvements, there's a fix to the sniper quick-switch exploit (it allowed them to avoid zoom/unzoom times), a fix to the medic's syringe gun, which sometimes pushed players high into the air and additional player position data logging. And that's not all: the medic class will be getting some additional features - a statement believed to be official says: "...We're working on a large new feature that'll add a set of interesting choices for Medics to make about their tactics, so in the future we expect the Medic role to broaden over time." The players from Germany have a good reason to be happy - today starts the "free play week-end" for them and it will last until the 6th of January.

First PS3 Unreal Tournament Map Released

Shrine UT3 Map

Epic Games has released already a map for the PS3 version of the Unreal Tournament 3 shooter video game. It is called DM-Shrine and it is adressing to a relatively low number of player that can play on it at the same time, however the tight spot does increase the adrenaline levels just as it is mentioned in the description of the map. The mod-map can be downloaded from Filefront and the PS3 installation instructions are as follows:

"DM-Shrine is is a great little map that's perfect those close-quarters, 2-6 players, matches that keep your adrenaline pumping from beginning to end. A lot of our DM maps in UT3 are designed for larger player counts so this provides a great contrast and a chance to play in a more intimate setting.(...) Here is how to install UT3 mods on your PlayStation 3:

- Unzip the file to the root directory of any memory card that is readable by your PlayStation 3. It is already in the proper directory structure but, just in case, the path and filename need to be: ps3\savedata\blus30086-modimport\userdata.jam
- Boot up Unreal Tournament 3 on your PS3
- Go to the "Community" menu
- Choose "My Content"
- Press the [SQUARE] button to "Import Mod"
- Follow the directions on the screen to import it from your memory card. Once imported you'll be able to see the map in your list of Deathmatch maps."
