Best Sellers For March

Leaving Call of Duty 4, Crysis, World of Warcraft, Half Life and many others in the dust, it seems that The Sims can't be stopped yet. To be honest, I tried it once, but it didn't manage to impress me, and that's my entire Sims experience, but since games I enjoyed a lot also ranked well in the "Best Selling PC Games of March" top, let's see them all, shall we?

The Sims 2

As expected, The Sims franchise surpassed the 100 million units sold mark, followed by Dawn of War's Soulstorm expansion pack. Here's the entire top made by NPD Group, Inc. - we're talking about best selling PC games for March:

1. The Sims 2 FreeTime Expansion Pack
2. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War Soulstorm Expansion Pack
3. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
4. World Of Warcraft: Battle Chest
5. Sins Of A Solar Empire
6. Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath Expansion Pack
7. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Adv Warfighter Jewel Case
8. World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Expansion Pack
9. World Of Warcraft
10. Frontlines: Fuel of War

Anything unexpected in the top above? Which one of the above did you purchase yet, and how was your experience? Did it worth the price, or not? I think these questions should be enough, so please take your time to answer, I am looking forward in seeing what you think!

Cities XL Announced

I don't know about the others, but I have a secret passion related to city building games. Sometimes, they can get pretty boring, but it's more about the feeling you are doing something right, and it's always better to see a city rising high due to your thinking, rather than just selecting some building options, as it happens in most RTS games. Anyway, if I say Monte Cristo...

Cities XL

...you may think about Cities Unlimited, the game that was supposed to continue what City Life started. Well, now it seems the name has changed, and it all became official - Cities XL is the next city building coming from the Paris, France-based computer game developer and publisher Monte Cristo!

Jérôme Gastaldi, COO of Monte Cristo, said "We believe that the level of detail and realism brought to Cities XL answers the needs of city-builder fans. We believe fans of the genre will definitely enjoy Cities XL and many of those fans have provided us with feedback on our development so far. We are really proud to have such a cool and proactive community."

Scheduled to ship in 2009, Cities XL allows gamers to develop cities on realistic 3D maps using an incredible collection of unique structures and monuments based on American, Asian and European-influenced architectural styles, and it may become the most accurate and captivating city building game so far. For more details, feel free to check the official Cities XL website.

Burnout Paradise

When talking about photorealistic racing games, Burnout Paradise is another title in my long list of "games to play when I'm dead" (there are simply too many to enjoy in a normal life, really, so don't get me wrong with that!). Unfortunately, it's only available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so I guess a few gamers will run from the PC to the console again due to this title, but let's see what makes Burnout Paradise so special, shall we?

Burnout Paradise

Started back in 2001, the Burnout game series was developed by Criterion Games, and published by Acclaim in first place, and later by EA Games. Formerly known as Burnout 5, Burnout Paradise was released back in January, and its open world is set in the fictional "Paradise City," while the game's title track, also featured on the in-game soundtrack is - obviously - Guns N' Roses' "Paradise City." I don't know about you, but I can't go wrong with that one in my car. Some songs are made for driving, and most of those in this game match the theme perfectly!

To race, simply drive around in Paradise City, stop at any of the 120 traffic lights to be found in the game, and then apply the accelerator and brake at the same time. Pretty easy, don't you think? As you race and earn experience, you are going to earn higher and higher licenses, moving up from the Learners Permit (E-Class), all the way up to the Criterion Elite, also known as the SSS-class.

Do I really have to tell you about the online racing mode? I guess not, because that's something you have to enjoy, not read about it!

All in all, Burnout Paradise is one more reason for those passionate racers still hanging on to their PCs to move on and get a console, and a great racing game that may soon get new paid downloadable content available, but we'll talk about that one when we know something for sure. Until then, you could also spend some time comparing what reviewers think, and create a more accurate opinion about this game, but I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Europa Universalis - Rome

I love those games coming from Paradox. Unfortunately, there's only one huge problem with them. I am not talking about the outdated graphics, or the boring in-game sounds. I simply don't care about those things, but I regret my days don't have 72 hours, so I can spend at least 24 hours per day playing Hearts of Iron, or Europa Universalis... Anyway, if you have more time to spare than I do, it is my pleasure to let you know that Europa Universalis: Rome has just been shipped to stores across North America!

Europa Universalis Rome

Covering the period from the first Punic War to the start of the true Empire, Europa Universalis: Rome "combines the best of the Empire Building, Conquest and Warfare genres, wrapped into a title that contains all main characteristics of a typical Paradox Interactive game. This project has the potential to become the most talked about grand strategy game to date," according to Johan Andersson, Paradox Director of Development.

The system requirements are as it follows:

Microsoft Windows XP/2000,
1.9 Ghz Intel Pentium or similar AMD
512mb RAM
Direct X 9.0c
128mb compatible video card & support for pixelshader 2.0.

For more details, feel free to visit the official website here, and be sure to save some time for this amazing experience that I am sure Europa Universalis: Rome is going to offer.
