Activision Got FreeStyleGames

I don't know if you remember B-Boy for PS2, but here's the precious info about it - while the game was released by SouthPeak Games, the studio that worked on it was the UK-based FreeStyleGames. B-Boy was a pretty successful title, and maybe that's exactly the reason that lead Activision into acquiring the little British studio. Today, we'll try to see what's going to happen with FreeStyleGames under the Activision banner, especially since it seems plans have been laid out already...

According to the FreeStyleGames website, "As of today FreeStyleGames will become part of Activision and join their illustrious list of internal development studios. We have been in on-going discussions with Activision in relation to our current projects and over the last few months they have presented an offer to acquire the company," so this is more than just a rumor.<-125x125 Button - right->

Good, so we know that. Now, let's see what's up with those plans I mentioned earlier, shall we? According to Mike Griffith, president of Activision Publishing, "FreeStyleGames has an award-winning team with a history of developing innovative and creative music-based games and they are uniquely positioned to help us expand our leadership in the genre."

Hmmm...music games... To be honest, I always enjoyed listening to music or going to shows, but music games seem to me like something out of my reach, for now. Anyway, this is just a personal thought, since some of my friends are crazy about Guitar Hero, for example - exactly the game Activision is currently working on, localizing content.

As long as everyone is happy at FreeStyleGames, all I have to say is "Good luck, guys!" and hope future titles will get better and better.

Xbox 360 Ownage!

Consoles are gaining market share everywhere, and seeing a lot of Xbox, Nintendo and PlayStation exclusive games is a reason for celebration, especially since US sales got up. We are not talking about speculations, because NPD just released the sales data for August, making all major competitors of the console gaming market to prepare for a party!

Anyway, it is very interesting to see how did the big boys react to the numbers made public by NPD, since the DS and Wii are leading the hardware sales, with Nintendo claiming to have sold almost 22 million portables in North America since launch, as well as 12 million Wii consoles(wow!). While things are getting better for hardware and software producers, I feel overwhelmed as the end user I am - should I play WoW, go to my console and spin some GTA 4 cars, then maybe go have beer and pizza with my friends, while playing some game on our portable consoles? No, thank you, drop the rest, I'll keep the beer and the pizza!

Don't worry, I am not going to enter mined terrain and tell you things like "excessive gaming is bad for your health," since most people get to realise this, sooner or later.<-125x125 Button - right->

So, where's the Xbox 360 ownage in all this market share story? Well, after seeing its own numbers, Microsoft said "Xbox 360 owns sports," as Madden NFL 09 climbed right in the front spot of the software charts, with over one million units sold. Even more, the Redmon giant claimed that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 sold 56,000 units in the first five days of sale on Xbox 360, while NCAA Football 09 has sold no less than 460,000 units since release. Pretty impressive, if you ask me!

Regarding thirt-party games, the Xbox 360 got first place in August, grabbing 58 percent market share, or $4.1 million in cash, according to Microsoft. Leaving them aside, it should also be noted that Madden NFL 09 on the PS3 sold 643,000 units in August, with hardware sales going up on all fronts, as I said in the beginning.

If it all goes on like this, it seems that pretty soon, "I don't have a console" will be a phrase extinct from the US English dictionary...

Seven Days Of Creation

When talking about the seven days of creation, there's one thing a lot of people forget to think about - the mistery of the last day. Unlike those guys I'll mention today, I consider this whole creationist thing a nice story, but at least I can hear it and smile, not start a crusade against it, as they do with something I am sure even God, if he exists as depicted in the Bible, would love - computer games! Anyway, before moving on to the core of my topic today, I have to remind you about the first six days of the week...

If you're one of those sleeping with the Bible below the pillow, you can skip this part, but for the rest of us, here's that nice creation fairy tale...

In the first day, god created earth, the heavens, and created light, to make day and night possible; next, he created Heaven; Greenpeace should thank God for creating dry land, and all the vegetation on the planet; in day 4, the Sun, the Moon and the stars were created; <-180x150 Small Rectangle - right->
on Friday, he created all those that live in water and in the sky, followed by the human race, on the 6th day, together with land animals, insects, and so on. Nice story, isn't it? In the seventh day, the "official version" says God rested.

Guess what? He didn't rest at all, because HE CREATED COMPUTER GAMES in the seventh day! I have no proof to this, but there's no proof to the other actions, either, and since evolutionist theories at least have some bones of ancient animals to support them, we'll move to that...

No, no, we won't talk about "the seven days of creation according to Darwin," there's something much better than that - Spore. It doesn't make any sense? Don't worry, it will!

Here's the story - a bunch of so-called Christian activists are really upset that EA's game is nothing more but an "attack on Christian values." Whaaaat? Yeah, but it doesn't stop here - they are also saying they don't want the gaming industry to invade their homes and poison the minds of their children. Riiiiight!

Man, this is absolutely delicious! Just check the Anti Spore blog! "I am really at a loss for words here.

It seems Will has suddenly switched gears from evolution to creation and is trying to say that in 18 days, Spore users did what God did in 7.  So all of spore users add up to 38% of God.  Unbelievable.

Just another direct attack from a man who thinks he is unstoppable.
"

Direct attack? No, this is not a direct attack, this is nothing more but words, especially since the one posting on this blog also says "I mean as a good Christian woman just the simple number of wishes for me to ‘burn in hell’ is enough to scare me. I would like to ask you all to take a moment and look at my posts, at any point have I ever threaten anyone with bodily harm?"

I pray for your kids, lady, and the silly life you're going to force them to live! I don't have anything against Christians, I know a lot of smart ones, but you're not going to live forever to keep your kids away from this "sinful world." You should remember that, above anything else, knowledge is power.

Anyway, I think I should post some comments on that blog, and that's what I will do. Spore is just a game. If this is going against Christian values, what about Black and White? Christian values are completely wrong, as long as there's no line in the Bible forbidding stupidity...
