Prince Of Persia Limited Edition!

Talking about some games requires introducing the company behind them, the previous releases in the series, if the game is part of such a thing, and giving some details about the game itself, too. I won't do any of those today, because I only have to tell you three words: "Prince Of Persia!"

I said this before, and now I say it again - I love special editions. I like to get a game and hold it in my hands, enjoy simply watching a well done box, with some bonus items, maybe even some promotional T-Shirts, depends. Anyway, to make a long story short - Ubisoft announced that anyone who places a pre-order for Prince of Persia for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or PC, will automatically be entitled to receive a special Limited Edition version of the game, without having to pay a single extra cent!!!

Since "Limited Edition" could mean a lot, here's what it means in this case:

- Collectable Limited Edition packaging
- An exclusive look at the making of Prince of Persia
- A Prima digital mini-strategy guide full of developer's secrets to help players master the year's best action-adventure game
- A digital art book that chronicles the game's journey from concept to winner of Best Artistic Design at E3 2008
- The original soundtrack scored by master composer Inon Zur

Even more, Ubisoft partnered with Penny Arcade to have a comic book based on the game ready in the near future - by the end of the year, to be more precise. Here's what today's press release says about it: "the expanded 32-page comic book will span roughly four times longer than the usual Penny Arcade comic and will allow the Prince's story to be creatively told in a robust, illustrative format."

Sweeeeeet! That's why I always like to get my hands on a game, rather than downloading it. Virtual "something" it may be good, it doesn't matter if we talk about virtual racing, friendships, or even virtual worlds like Second Life, but no virtual product can match the real thing!

Thailand – Censorship Strikes Again!

After Norway, Sweden, New Zealand and Canada, Thailand sits very nicely on my "countries to visit" list, but this has nothing to do with computer gaming. My list is simply based on various places I want to visit and, in some cases, bands I want to see live in their home countries. Obviously, it's more than only the two above, but what I want to say is that, if I would be using computer gaming as a criteria for this list, Thailand would surely be pushed aside. Why? Censorship, of course!

While freedom of speech in Thailand was guaranteed in the articles 39, 40, 41 in the 1997 Constitution, censorship can be imposed to preserve national security, maintain public order, preserve the rights of others, protect public morals, and prevent criticism of the royal family and insults to Buddhism, but I don't think any of the above is affected by some looney computer gamer killing a taxi driver.

In the US, for example, another looney guy went on a motorcycle rampage,<-125x125 Button - right-> ending up underneath a car, with the bike in flames, but he got out of it in one piece...and nothing happened to computer games, of course!

Unfortunately, things are not looking good in Thailand, since according to a report published on CNET's Techology Thailand blog, the Ministry of Culture there decided to ban the following games: Hitman,Hitman:Blood Money,300, Killer Seven and 50 Cent:Bulletproof. :(

The explanation coming from the country's officials says gaming is "obsessive and has an adverse effect on the behavior of children and teens." Really? Come on guys, try to think outside the box! Teach the parents how to educate their kids, don't ban computer games, this will only turn them into black market products, and nothing more!
