PlayStation 3 News!

Sony's PlayStation 3 is a great console - at least that's what my friends having one say, and from the time I spent with them shooting one another or racing with the pedal to the metal, I must confess I fully agree with them. Unfortunately, no matter how good can be a certain device, without proper hardware and software additions it will fade away in time, as it happens with virtually everything on this planet, if I think well. Now, let's see what should gamers expect from Sony until the end of this year, shall we?

Those of you waiting to hear about price cuts will have to live with the hope until Christmas, it seems. According to the latest rumors, Sony has no plans for any price cuts until then, but...you know what they say - hope dies last, and since it doesn't cost nothing to hope for a cheap PlayStation 3...<-125x125 Button - right->

According to Famitsu, the 80GB PlayStation 3, complete with DualShock 3 controller, will sell in Japan for only JPY 39,800 (EUR 289 / GBP 226) – exactly the current price of the 40GB unit. While this may not sound like groundbreaking PlayStation 3 news, here's a good one - only for a limited time, Sony will also include a copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III with the system. Yeah, baby, that's what I like!

Since everything interesting related to PlayStation 3 seems to be happening in Japan, here's one more - the LittleBigPlanet 80GB bundle retails for JPY 44,980 (EUR 327 / GBP 255), and includes a copy of the Media Molecule's game, as well as two DualShock 3 controllers. As an alternative, you can get the DualShock 3 bundled with a copy of LittleBigPlanet for JPY 7980 (EUR 58 / GBP 45), also available in silver, black and white.

Oh, well, it may be true that Japan is one of the most expensive countries to live in, but gamers and Internet freaks there surely have a lot of fun, not to mention those insanely fast & cheap connections...

Far Cry 2 Updates

Far Cry was, without any doubt, a game outrageous for its time, considering the system required to run it on maximum quality settings, just as it happened with Crysis a few years after. Since its release, that took place in 2004's Spring, Far Cry sold over 1 million copies, spawning several console ports and a movie. Now, Far Cry 2 - although still unreleased, spawned a few new screenshots, as you can see below...

...in one of the many new screenshots published on IGN. The strange part is that I wasn't able to find any of them on the official Far Cry 2 website, but they'll probably update it pretty soon, or I simply missed these new shots. Anyway, all in all - things are looking good, my friends!<-180x150 Small Rectangle - right->

If you forgot about it, here's what you should wait from this game - "Caught between two rival factions in war-torn Africa, you are sent to take out "The Jackal," a mysterious character who has rekindled the conflict between the warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfil your mission you will have to play the factions against each other, identify and exploit your their weaknesses, and neutralize their superior numbers and firepower with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force."

Just to remind you - next to the PC version, Far Cry 2 will also be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, all shipping simultaneously on October 21, 2008 in North America, while Europe will get it on the 24th of October.

KOTOR MMORPG confirmed?!?

Still wondering about the KOTOR MMORPG? Never heard of it? That's even better! According to a report from EGM that made the news some time ago, BioWare formed a new online team to create a Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic(KOTOR) massively multiplayer online game. That happened almost a year and a half ago, and now, we see the KOTOR MMORPG confirmed! Well, ALMOST confirmed, as we're going to see right away...

...since after over a year of total silence regarding the topic, EA CEO John Riccitiello casually revealed that a KOTOR MMORPG was in the works. To be more accurate, this was happening back in July, but no other information got through since then.<-125x125 Button - right->

Today, there's not much to say, only that invitations were received recently, saying that "LucasArts and BioWare invite you to attend the official unveiling of the game that's been rumored about for years," and this is going to happen in San Francisco on the afternoon of October 21.

These being said, be sure to get ready to receive some very interesting news two weeks from now. After all, what can be more impressive than Star Wars online? For some people, not even the Bible online could beat that, so stand by to see the KOTOR MMORPG confirmed the right way...
