FEAR 2, Behind Wii Fit

FEAR 2 is great. I have no doubt about it, although I still have to get my copy to fully enjoy it. For now, I am describing it as "great" based on its pretty light system requirements for a 2009 game, and the way they are marketing it here and there. Anyway, no more words about FEAR 2, we'll get the review later this week, maybe next week, in the worst case scenario, so now let's take a look at the fresh game statistics involving FEAR 2, shall we?

Fear 2

According to data from GfK, FEAR 2: Project Origin got a good start in the UK, but not good enough to surpass Wii Fit. During its first week on the market, FEAR 2 got half of its total sales on the Xbox 360, 31 percent on the PlayStation 3, with the PC coming in third place, with 19 percent.

The top 10 all formats charts of the day look like this:

02 FEAR 2: Project Origin
03 Mystery Case Files: Millionheir
04 Call of Duty: World at War
05 FIFA 09
06 Mario Kart Wii
07 Wii Play
08 My Fitness Coach
09 Professor Layton and the Curious Village
10 Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

Finally, no Need for Speed: Undercover here! As a final interesting fact, it should be noted that Sega's brand new release House of the Dead: Overkill for the Wii missed the top 10, only grabbing 15th place. "House of Dead, we want House of Dead," reminds me of a bunch of people who were begging me to find the game for them. I found it, I told them the price, they gladly paid, but I will never understand what was so funny about that game. Really...

Virtual Rape Game, Forbidden

When it comes to virtual aggressivity, virtual rape is probably the first one, after verbal abuse(or written abuse in a forum/online multiplayer game), but to have such a thing as "virtual rape," you need two humans. Of course they're going to be thousands of miles away, as long as they're virtually facing each other over the Internet, some claim a "virtual rape" is possible. To me, this is all nonsense, but...

RapeLay Virtual Rape game

...it gets even more interesting, when you consider a game where you have to interact with 100% virtual people to be a danger. The idea of such games is pretty straightforward - fire it up, follow some girls in the virtual world of the game, rape them. In most cases, you can play such games offline without any problem, and as long as you're an adult person, I can't see what's the problem.

Now, LifeNews reported that "Amazon.com has dropped its listing for a controversial Japanese video game called Rapelay that involves raping women and forcing them to have abortions. The so-called "rape simulator" game was sold on the web site and included a graphic description of the gameplay.

Although a listing for the product is available through online searches, the link to it on Amazon's web page no longer functions."

Damn, that's strange. You can't even have a virtual rape, these days? Anyway, once you've seen a game like RapeLay, you really have to be a bit sick to try another one! ;)

God Of War 3, Gory Details

When it comes to movies, I usually don't enjoy those with a lot of blood, heads flying off and so on, especially because the action usually takes place at full speed, and I can't enjoy the blood & gore as I should. Hah! Thought I have problems with gory details? Not at all, but I can't say I am crazy about them. When it comes to God of War 3, well... see for yourselves!
God of War 3
According to Destructoid, we have an epic battle between gods "constantly raging through God of War III, whether Kratos is getting blood-spattered in the battlefield, or solving a puzzle away from battle. It’s constantly there, a macabre backdrop of smoke and explosions, death and destruction." Puzzles and bloody gore, that's a smart combo!

In a funny declaration, Game Director Stig Asmussen of God of War III said "Take D-Day, the Battle of Normandy, combine it with the movie Cloverfield, and put Kratos smack dab in the middle of it," when talking about the gameplay, although he didn't get too much into the story. After all, who would like to know it all before playing it? Not many, that's a fact.

Regarding the graphics violence, Asmussen said "We’re not doing gore just to do gore. Some of the stuff is pretty over-the-top, so it’s going to draw some emotions from people. But we really think it fits within his character, and it’s not just gore for gore’s sake." That's fine with me, but we'll have to wait until this year's E3 to hear the official release announcement, so...
