Fun Fun Games

On August 05, 2009 Id Software released "DOOM Resurrection", an excellent first person shooter that will exceed your expectations. You can find "DOOM Resurrection" on the App Store with the version 1.1 for the iPod touch and iPhone, running the third operating system for iPhone. "DOOM Resurrection" will take your iPod touch or iPhone beyond previously imagined limits. "DOOM Resurrection" comes packaged with a brand new, technologically advanced chapter in the DOOM Saga. This chapter is very familiar with the story line from the movie "DOOM".

The excellent animation, great graphics and adrenaline rush sound effects create a new indescribable experience. The game follows a pre-determined script. Therefore you will not have freedom of doing whatever you want, or walk around. This is not a plus, because it would be nice to be able to change the game every time you play it by just taking a different approach. For all the old fans of "DOOM" this is not a bad feature. Most of the fans like the first person shooter direction without any freedom. It makes the game easier to be understood by just building the action. Every new level will bring a more continuous action flow coming towards you.

The story will put you in the shoes of a Marine soldier sent on Mars to investigate a distress SOS. It seems the scientist from the research facility on Mars lost control on their mutational experiment, transforming only the ones with the violence gene into monsters (well with 24 chromosomes, weird).

The experiment should have been a success, allowing humans to gain their 24 chromosome. However, only the non violent humans at the molecular level can gain this pair of chromosomes without becoming monsters. As the last survivor of your Marine unit, you have to defeat all the monsters and tell the secret of what happened on Mars. You can only do this after the base lockdown comes to an end. This will happen on the last level.

Remember the Earth's future depends on your success. End of line, the storyline involves the Union Aerospace Corporation story. The graphics and animation are done perfectly. The game works smoothly on both iPod touch 2nd generation and iPhone 3G; therefore no need to purchase a new iPod 3rd generation or iPhone 3GS.

When you are walking through the passages of station, the sense of dread is all around you. "DOOM Resurrection" has four levels of difficulty: recruit, marine, veteran and nightmare (it is easy to guess which one is the hardest). Also, it comes with two modes, Story Mode and Free Mode. First mode, Story Mode has 8 levels that involve shooting all the zombie-monsters through the Mars station. Because this is a story mode, cut dialogue scenes provide more of the storyline as well as highlighting objectives for the next level. At the end of each level, you are ranked from A to F based on your entire performance (shooting accuracy, health and item pickups).

The second mode, Free Mode allows you to play any level already played in the Story Mode. If you are looking for a breathtaking action survival then choose the veteran difficulty. However if you are looking for a suicidal mission, do choose the nightmare difficulty. "DOOM Resurrection" is not a game to be played with easy and medium difficulty. If you were planning to, then just revise either your purchase plans or playing plans. If you like the manual gear on cars then you definitely have to go for the manually calibration. If you enjoy the comfort of your automatic gear then go for the auto calibration. The game control scheme is truly revolutionary. For weapons tap the upper left corner; if you run out of ammo, reload by tapping the upper right corner; you can fire by tapping the bottom left corner, and other. In a direct contact with an enemy, dodge or cover by simply tapping the bottom left corner.

In order to play this game properly, grab all the glowing items you can find. Also pick up ammo, health and weapons. "DOOM Resurrection" offers from the beginning an infinite ammo assault rifle. By doing so, you will not find yourself unarmed on an extraterrestrial base full of zombie-monsters. Along the whole game you will encounter 5 types of creatures: typical zombies, fat zombies, commando zombies, hell knights and Arc Viles and maggots. All this creatures will attack in different ways, therefore watch your back. The game itself can be played by an average user (1 hour play per day) in almost a week. However you don't have a good replay value.

Once you've played it you're done. Because of this disadvantage, "DOOM Resurrection" got an upgrade with a new Challenge mode that brings to the game 40 unique challenges. Overall, "DOOM Resurrection" is a great first shooter person. It may be one of the best found on the App Store, because of its excellent graphics, good sound effects and realistic story line. For only $6.99 you get a good balanced game with little drawbacks.

Fun Indoor Games

Released on August 20, 2009 Gang star: West Coast Hustle is the best open world action game released on the App Store for the iPhone OS 3.0. Like Modern Combat: Sandstorm, Gang star: West Coast Hustle is developed, marketed and sold by Gameloft.  Where does Gameloft come from? Gameloft is a French publisher and developer of video games. Its headquarters are in Paris with offices all around the world. Also Gameloft is one of the few game developer companies to be listed on the Paris Stock Exchange.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
Gameloft was founded by Guillemot brothers. The same Guillemot brothers are founders and owners of Ubisoft. Both of the companies make video games. The Gameloft develops games for game consoles: Play Station Portable, the Wii console, Wii Sport, Nintendo DS, Xbox, Xbox 360, PC and for the new iPhone OS 3.0 and Android OS. In 2007, Gameloft received a few awards for games like, Rise of the Lost Empire, American Pop star: Road to Celebrity, while in 2008 the awarded games were: Castle of Magic, Hero of Sparta, Asphalt 4 - Elite Racing.  Ubisoft focuses its attention on creating games for mobile phones equipped with Java and Symbian OS.

The Gang star: West Coast Hustle is linked to another Gameloft game, Gang star: Crime City. Therefore you can explore more realistic environments than ever for a unique game play experience. You have to complete 50 different missions that combine the best action games and driving games. The game play is intuitive, you can drive any vehicles offered in the game by using the touch controls; you can easily aim at a target by just touching the screen.

Shooting sequences are even more enjoyable with the auto aiming mode (but the game becomes rather simple). The Gang star: West Coast Hustle is like a Grand Theft Auto clone with game play similar to the Grand Theft Auto Series. You will discover the same versatility from the GTA games.

fun-indoor-games4
The action is set In Los Angeles, were you play an aspiring gang member called P (Pedro) accompanied by his friend Juanito. Both recently escaped from a Mexican prison and successfully arrived in Los Angeles. You will try to become a member of the Los Locos de la Muerte gang. Doing so you will have to carry out ruthless and brutal tasks.

While many tasks are carried out against Los Matadores gang, you will still have the opportunity to take optional missions and meet other characters. With Gang star: West Coast Hustle you have the ability to enjoy an open world game, were you have the freedom to explore any single part of the town and also you can do whatever you want (from carrying missions to making optional choices). The base game is delivered in six chapters with the sum of 50 missions.

fun-indoor-games21
During all this missions you can earn money by taking out gang members and pedestrians along with completing missions in order for you to buy weapons, rent vehicles and bribe officers. Beside the great graphics the game also has cinematic video, and throughout the game, various cut scenes and dialog set the tone for each mission. Visually the game is flawless; it runs smoothly no matter the tasks. The viewing perspective can be altered at any time by touching and dragging the screen which works well. If you are planning to buy this game for you're under aged kid then think again.

The game is violent and does contain a lot of blood and, obviously, bodies. Just like Modern Combat: Sandstorm, Gang star: West Coast Hustle has a great audio. Other features like in game radio while you are driving with music (hip hop, rock, punk and others or just listen to the music stored in your iPhone or iPod touch), news and commercials really make this game a mini GTA. During the game you will get some flashbacks (some of them right in, or before, the middle of the action).

fun-indoor-games31
The game has great controls that will not take time from you to understand. If you are walking and running then you should use the analog stick (with action icons for fighting or shooting and a special icon for getting in and out of o vehicle). Just like the Grand Theft Auto series, the West Coast Hustle provides you with a map in order to better guide yourself through Los Angeles. So Gameloft provides with not only six chapters but also six types of weapons: handgun, semiautomatic, shotgun, assault rifle, sniper and RPG. You can easily switch between weapons by just tapping the gun icon on the screen.

Just like the Grand Theft Auto series, in Gang star you have to go to a gun shop in order to upgrade your guns or just by ammo. Gang star is about mayhem and all the features should keep you busy until your battery runs out of power. From drive by shootings and carjacking to sex and drug preference, Gang star clones it all from Grand Theft Auto. The missions occur in various spots including strip clubs, prisons and even playgrounds. You still have the police chases (not that hard to beat than the GTA chases), or small missions like driving a cab for money.

The game has humor, sometimes a dark humor, and really offers a great experience to users. The down part: typical Gameloft load time, relatively low police artificial intelligence. Also, Gang star: West Coast Hustle has been known to have many functionality issues. For example, it freezes for some users every few seconds (the first gen. iPod touch users and first and second gen. iPhone users). Others (iPhone 3 GS users and second and third generation iPod touch users) have no problem at all. For others the game does not even open up without subsequently crashing.

The biggest problem of all is the freezing game. Gang star: West Coast Hustle has a lot of fans; therefore the number of purchases was never a problem for Gameloft. The current version released on August 20, 2009, 1.0.3 still does not fix the software problems. Overall, if you are one of the lucky iPod touch or iPhone users you will enjoy the "solid" controls and a beautifully designed environment (full 3D reconstruction of an entire city with detailed buildings) with a unique feeling of freedom.

Fun Escape Games

On September 01, 2009 Showtime Networks Inc (developer and seller, Show & Prove LLC d/b/a Marc Ecko Entertainment), released "Dexter the Game" on App Store, for iPod touch and iPhone with the third operating system for iPhone. A rather bold move for a corporate division of media conglomerate CBS Corporation. Showtime Networks was established in 1983, after Viacom and Warner - Amex Satellite Entertainment merged their channels, Showtime and The Movie Channel, into one division. In 1984 the Amex part (American Express) from the Warner - Amex Satellite Entertainment sold their half to the Warner part. Therefore Warner became in 1984 co-partner of Showtime. In 1985, Warner sold to Viacom their half, making the company owned by Viacom alone. Just in 1988, Showtime became Showtime Networks; Inc. "Dexter the Game" is the thriller action game that is missing from your iPod touch and iPhone.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
This excellent 3D game is based on the TV show "Dexter", a Showtime Original Series. The game follows the story of season one fairly closely so even if you are not a fan of the show, you can follow the story line. Dexter Morgan lives a double life; at day he is a blood spatter analyst for the Miami police department, but at night he lets himself been driven by the need to kill criminals who truly deserve to die. Your purpose is to help Dexter choose his next victim while protecting him day by day identity. You get to analyze crime scenes, uncover evidence and use stealth tactics to stalk your prey.

There are a nice variety of game play types from looking for clues, picking locks, interrogating victims before killing them. The actual killing is censored by Apple; therefore you see only arrows and dots are put on screen and if you trace them in time a little blood streak and small scream will happen. This game is not for kids; you must be at least 17 years old to play this game. The game also has bad language that goes along with violence. If you are a parent and you don't want your kid to plays this game, remember to upgrade to iPhone OS 3.0 in order to use parental controls. The controls are pretty great, everything works smoothly. However, depending on the scene complexity you might find some parts of the game a little more "heavier" to play.

fun-escape-games2
Trying to match the blood splatter in the (mini game) laboratory is much harder than it sounds. You may actually spend more time matching blood then actual play the game. The graphics are excellent for a 3D iPhone game. However there are several hours of game play with tense action 3D environments, therefore for an average player this means at least a week or so. Also the "Dexter the Game" sports up to 1100 lines of dialogue, including original voices (Michael C. Hall). The next generation 3D engine allows for multiple camera follow-ups: first person, 3rd person and easy switch between the two modes.

The controls bring you everything you can possible want, tilt to move, dual yokes, single yoke. The best feature is that every move is touch screen dependent. The audio sounds good, and accompanies the video entirely featuring even 3D sound. You also get to perform complex actions with just a tap on the screen. Even if this game is compatible with iPhone OS 2.2.1 it is highly recommended you upgrade your iPod and iPhone before installing this huge game of 396 MB (compared with other 3rd person games for the iPod touch or iPhone). By doing so, you will get a better performance and you will truly enjoy being a blood spatter analyst by day and a redeeming killer by night. Not only has this game come with a small asking price of $5.99, but you can also win a walk on role to Season 5 on "Dexter" if you play the game.
