In 1978 a designer at Taito, Toshihiro Nishikado created Space Invaders which became the company's most popular game in arcade history. Taito has had a great influence on the course of gaming history, releasing the most innovative games. Space Invaders is the most notable, but games as Bubble Bobble, Jungle Hunt, Elevator Action, Operation Wolf and Puzzle Bobble introduces unique game plays. In 2009, Taito Corporation released games for iPhone OS 3.0. The Space Invaders Infinity gene is the winner of the Gold Award at Pocket Gamer. The more you play, the more the game evolves.
The Space Invaders Infinity is successor of the original Space Invaders for the iPod touch and iPhone. The game starts off looking like the original Space Invaders. The Space Invaders Infinity gene is a retro shooter. It also takes elements from modern shooters but only after a few levels of evolution. Taito Corporation created a great game by combining great techno soundtrack (although you can listen to your own music) with excellent environments and free movement. As you successfully complete levels with epic battles and even more epic boss battles, your ship evolves. The touch controls are very responsive and the ability to maneuver is highly accurate. Because the game orbits everything evolution might stand for, the menu is represented like a tree with branches that will lead you to secondary menus.

The game has initially two modes of difficulty: easy and normal. After you complete the first two you will unlock the third one. Because this game is at its roots Space Invader, the first level is rather simple with your not so cool ship and simple invaders. Your ship has only one shooter and it's stationary. Once you progress to the next sublevels the evolution kicks in: your ship evolves every new passed level with ability to unlock an Arms Select screen in order for you to choose your weapon of choice or a new weapon. With every new weapon acquired your ship becomes faster and stronger. As you move through the levels, more explosions, more missile fire, more obstacles come in your way in a more elaborate graphics. Each of the 38 levels has its own sublevels.

Every sublevel brings a different power to help you either destroying your enemies or just raising your ships shield at a higher level. Even from the first levels played you can unlock new system features like: search laser, high speed shot and free movement. In order for you to collect all the abilities you should replay every level to secure missed or extra power abilities. However if you choose not to replay the levels in which you didn't collect all the new abilities and new weapons you should be aware of the fact that your ship will be useless; this because your enemy gets stronger without needing to retrieve any special features like you do.
A nice feature is that two Space Invaders Infinity Gene games will never be identical. Every game played by the same or different user will be unique. As mentioned before this game orbits the evolution process like the Moon orbits our planet, Earth. If you even miss a few tools from level, let's say 25, you may find yourself in level 26 without any chance of reaching a certain goal (because of those tools, kind of high drama for a fun game).

The tree menu is a "living" character itself. Therefore it will differ from player to player. Ultimately, your success or failure will determine the looks of this tree (if this game was a car, it would have been probably a Honda Insight or a Toyota Prius). Every few levels you will get a boss for you to fight. Remember as in any other arcade game, in Space Invaders Infinity Gene you have to move fast in order to survive and defeat the boss. If you stop shooting for just a second, you might just...die.
If you are looking for game that starts fast, is under $5 ($4.99), that will make you come back time after time; an original game easy to play on your iPod touch or iPhone, with solid controls and that allows you to listen to your own music then you found it. The Space Invaders Infinity Gene is an impressive shooter with great graphics and animation. It also has a unique feature, the evolution.
