Bungie Studios and Microsoft Have Split
As I write this, Halo 3 is boiling hot, and it seems that Bungie's game will get again high ratings from everyone, but we shouldn't forget that Microsoft is the big boy in this game. While this partnership brought fame for Bungie and a lot of money to everyone, including the Redmond giant, it seems the game developer wants more. So, why would Bungie split ways with Microsoft?

According to various inside sources, Halo's producers don't want to live for the rest of their days making "Halos", because we all know that Microsoft, once it has a good product that sells on the market, keeps issuing new versions over and over again, sometimes ending up reinventing the wheel just to sale the same product under a different shape. Another reason is that Bungie wants to get back in the Mac world, as well as starting to create games for PlayStaton 3 and Wii.These being said, let's see what happened today...
Moving from rumor to reality, the Bungie-Microsoft rupture happened a few hours ago, when Microsoft Corp. announced that Bungie will become an independent company once again. While Bungie's Harold Ryan said that ""[We] greatly value our mutually prosperous relationship with our publisher, Microsoft Game Studios, and we look forward to continuing that affiliation through 'Halo' and beyond.", the fanchising director of the company, Brian Jarrard, speaking to Macworld, claimed the return to the Mac world is possible.
As you can figure out, Microsoft won't just give Bungie freedom without keeping rights to the Halo titles, but that's OK, as well as long they will be able to create games for other platforms from now on, too. Obviously, we won't see the results of today's event in a month or two, but we should keep our eyes on Bungie Studios from now on, because we may get some pleasant surprises, especially if we're using a PS or Wii for our gaming needs.
Bungie Software Products Corporation started back in 1991 as a game company with products aiming at the Mac OS only, and before joining Microsoft in 2000, produced notorious Mac games such as Oni, Myth or Marathon. What happened afterward, it's already history, because if you didn't play at least one of the 3 Halo games, you can't call yourself a serious gamer...

That really sucks.

Haha, halo is what sucks. Its just your average shooter with good graphics and what's really sad is that the majority of console gamers can't tell the difference. PC gamers have been playing stuff like this for years so if Bungie thinks they have any chance at all on PC/Mac with a game like this then they are dead wrong. But who knows, it could just be that Microsoft was the one holding them back in the first place.

None of the Halos were revolutionary at all. It was just a common everyday shooter with many others WAY better such as Farcry and the unreal tournament series.
The only reason Halo got so big was because of the ad push and it was the only half ass FPS on the consoles.
So my guess is Bungie won't do too well on its own with out the ads. Especially in the PC world, a place were the gamers are picky and won't spend their money on trash.

Bungie started out making pc games, and halo was originally a pc game before microsoft got them. Ever heard of Marathon? pc shooter. do some research.

Is halo the greatest video game of all time?

You guys dont understand, halo was created originally as a great shooter with a very strong plot line, it immediatly became one of the prettiest shooters on the market with great game play and a plot line that would drive gamers to play all night long. With this immediate reaction to the gaming power house, a second was announced, the plot thickens. More gamers get into the series and understand why it is so hyped and so many people like it. But halo 2 was left out to dry on the plot line even though still strong with games like half life and half life 2 gaining popularity at the time they just hyped the multiplayer. And finally with a series ender of halo 3. An amazing game very pretty but not the best looking but it preformed as a top rate game. again with games like mass effect, bioshock, and assassins creed who gives a crap about the ending to this series apperently not you idiots. Halo has always been a strong power house series with good graphics and a strong plot line that people stopped caring about, and most people just see it as a bunch of frat boys getting wasted and playing XBL. And why dont you people try to design a game better then halo 3

foop, Bungie concentrated on Mac games in its first decade, as you can find out from the Wikipedia page about them. The Marathon trilogy was originally launched on Mac, so...

1. Halo came before farcry
2. Driving in halo is WAY easier then driving in UT. You have limited weapons, recharging shields, grenades, melee, a differant array of gametypes, a differant array of weapons, so its way differant. Don't say halo = UT because they are based in the future or some dumb bunk.
3. Halo got big because of their revolutionary aimbot, that made shooting with a controller much smoother.
4. Halo was not bought because of some huge ad push. Thats crap, and you know it. Halo 2 was, and Halo 3 was, But halo 1 was unpopular due to xbox being the new kid on the block. And if you think all that mattered with the ads, Nintendo was spamming the ads. How bad is your guys memory anyways?
5. Halo 1 was a solid game for many people. I loved that game, i stayed up for hours playing it. Some people don't like some games. I got insomnia, don't tell me it was THE ADVERTISING! Halo 2 did not give me insomnia, it got me pissed off.

Yep, according to this article, the reason (I think) it is because Bungie wants to develop games for PS3 or Wii. They are not like Microsoft: developing the same sh*t over and over again just to sale it on a different shape.

I think that Halo is not the best but one of the best shooters created and if it is very advertised is not a bad thing.
