One thing that you should know about the 40 Thieves Solitaire game is the fact that it relies mostly on skill and therefore it is kind of difficult to win at it. This game has many aliases, such as Roosevelt at San Juan, Big Forty, Le Cadran and Napoleon at Saint Helena. The game is played with two decks of cards, which is not uncommon in the world of Solitaire card games. The first thing you need to do is to shuffle the two deck of cards, but make sure that you remove the Jokers first, which means that you should have 104 cards.

Now you should deal 40 cards faced up and place them in 10 columns of 4 cards each. Make sure that each card is placed partially on top of the card directly above it. You should be able to see the value and the suit of each card from each row, but you should know that only the top ones or the ones which are located the lowest are playable. Now you need to leave space for eight foundation piles on top of the ten columns. Each foundation should be built by suit from Ace to King and each tableau should be built down by suit. What you should do is move the cards in the tableau in order to match them by suit in descending order and when you can’t make any moves, turn one of the cards which have remained from the deck.



You will win the game by getting all the cards onto the 8 foundation piles. You should know that in this game, unlike in other Solitaire games, once the deck of the cards has been depleted you can no longer use it, which means that you have to finish the game before you deplete all the extra remaining cards.
