There is no better feeling than the embarking on a new adventure. The thrill and excitement of not knowing what awaits you and the feeling that everything is going to get worse until it gets better: that’s what an adventure is all about. Living normal enough lives we can’t expect every day to be an adventure, at least not an extreme one. Yet there are PC games that can transport you into a land of adventure where you will use your wits to survive and solve the situation.<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

Adventure games are my favorites. And there are plenty of them out there, and some of them are really fun, with characters with a well defined personality and full of witty remarks.

You can’t say “adventure game” without making reference to the Monkey Island series. Everyone is familiar by now with the name Guybrush Threepwood. The Monkey Island series starts off with this character’s ambition to become a mighty pirate. Although the story takes place in the 18th century Caribbean islands, there are numerous references to modern popular culture, which are really fun to hear once in a while. This game was first developed by LucasArts and its last installment, named Tales of Monkey Island is developed in collaboration with Telltale Games and it’s a bit different, given the fact that the entire adventure is split into episodes. Once you play it, you will get hooked and want to play more and more. I recommend that you play ALL the Monkey Island games if you have the chance.

Another great adventure game that doesn’t have such a rich history behind it but it does impress in terms of graphics and concept is Machinarium, developed by independent developers Amanita Design. You are a small robot dumped in a heap of garbage that somehow manages to save his city and his girlfriend. This is a one of a kind adventure: beautifully drawn and, what’s more impressive, there are no words spoken throughout the game: all dialogs are presented in the form of suggestive images.

The last adventure game I am going to talk about is also from LucasArts and it’s really, really old. It’ called Day Of The Tentacle and for those of you familiar to Maniac Mansion, you should know that DOTT is also known as Maniac Mansion II. The story is simple: it starts off with two tentacles; one of them drinks polluted water and develops some sort of hands and becomes an evil genius. So, it’s up to the geeky Bernard and his friends Laverne and Hoagie to save the day by going into the past and preventing the water from being polluted. Alas, the time machines get screwed up and they each end up in a different period of time. It’s a very fun and entertaining game, with lots of witty dialogue.

These are not the only good adventure games out there. Be sure to check out the Syberia, Dreamfall or Broken Sword games and get ready to embark on a new adventure. Have fun!

Today there is a certain loss of values, especially family values, and this is because parents don’t have time to take care of their children and the children are too cool to hang out with their parents. This is not how Colonel Sanders pictured the future and this is not why he invented that delicious chicken, but to be enjoyed with family and friends. Not only Colonel Sanders fought for the unification of the family, even though we are talking about a bucket of chicken, but also the Parker Brothers.

If you don’t know who the Parker brothers are I am going to tell you, they are the all mighty Monopoly parents. I hope that you have heard about this game and about its way of trapping you in a very cruel and excruciating manner.

At first this was, and it still is, a board game but in time thanks to technology this game managed to get on our computers. You have all kinds of various kinds of Monopoly; you have the 3D version, the classic version and many others. It is fun for this game to be played on the board and on the screen.

The basic plot of the game goes like this: first you receive your money with which you will buy properties and pay rents and fines and others then you choose a token and you throw the dice; if the dice say 4, for example, you move for spaces and if that space is a property you can purchase it, if it is not already been purchased. The game has all kinds of cards which can give you $200 or can send you to prison.

This game is the perfect opportunity to experience a series of things like: owning a train station or different properties; you will experience jail, poorness, richness and many others. Every time you pass GO you will have to receive $200 which represents your salary. Make sure you build houses and hotels because you will receive a lot of money if one of the players land on your property, but in case you land on one of their properties, which have houses and hotels, you will pay like you have never paid before in your entire life.

The game is very fun because it gives you the chance to become a negotiator when it comes to trading proprieties or a real estate agent when you want to sell or others.

You can see your parents broke and in jail, you can tease your sister by collecting all her money from the rent that she has to give you and many, many other things.

This game is challenging and fun on so many levels. So, if you have never tasted this game I advise you do it and also gather around your family because it is not a one player game.

There is a farmer in each and every one of us, especially when it comes to cultivating our gaming skills. Maybe you have heard what scientists say about the fact that slowly we will face a food shortage. Well now, this no laughing matter; but this happens because today people choose to create plants out of all kinds of chemical based compounds and not to plant a seed on their farm.

The old folks are very angry on the young folks because they’ve lost their traditional value, meaning that due to toady’s technology the younglings have preoccupations that are other than rising up a farm.

But what can I say?
The old people are wrong, we are mastering our agricultural skills by playing all kinds of games that involve clicking on a seed and dragging it to a certain place, wait for it to grow and then sell it to those who are interested in buying the crops. I’m kidding, indeed it is very sad that we don’t know how to farm our way out of hunger. Talking about farming and crops, I want to present you a very addicting farming game; and no, I’m not talking about Farmville but about Farm Mania. Farm Mania aims at the farmer in you; and I’m saying this because the game is all about planting seeds, water them, taking care of them, harvest them and sending them to market or to those who come and place orders. Other than planting you have to: fish, mine, make baskets and muffins and others; you will have to take care of your animals, you will have to feed them, give them water harvest their wool, eggs and feathers. The game may seem to some a little bit unattractive at first because it creates the impression that it is more of a routine like game where you do this and that but without any apparent challenge. The challenge appears gradually; as you play you will see that you have to do all kinds of chores in a very limited period of time; so, you will have to move faster and faster and to do all the things that are asked of you.

You can upgrade your farm by buying all kinds of things that will help you move faster and to boost your energy in a way that it seems that Anna transforms herself into Speedy Gonzales. The game features 60 levels, casual and arcade modes and it gives you a hint in what life on a farm is about. The name of the game may be a bummer for some, but do not let yourself influenced by it because if you will try and play the game you will see that under this shallow name there is a good resource management type of game which cultivates your ability to organize the tasks and the priorities that you will encounter along the game. Farm Mania has cute visuals and a very nice and catchy music; it also features a very nice and fat pink pig that will accompany you along the game. I recommend you try the game and have a little bit of fun.
