Demigod Failure!?!

God has failed, at least if we talk about consistency. Some call it(for me, it's more of a concept, than a being) a name, other call it another name, some say it's white, others it's black, and so on. No need to say how far is this going, because we're only talking about half of a god today. Yupp, you got it right - it's all about Demigod, the latest game coming from Stardock!
Demigod Failure
One of the things that I really appreciate, when it comes to BitTorrent trackers is the fact that you can see early user feedback on a game that gets pirated even before the official release, in most cases. This way, I usually end up with a good choice in my hands, when it comes to buy a new game(no, I am NOT using pirated games) and I have a bunch of alternatives...but a smaller budget.

Unfortunately, not all gamers think like me, and this seems to hurt some of the smaller players of the gaming industry - for example, as Demigod's official servers started to receive connections, the number of connections climbed up to 140,000. Why call Demigod a failure, in this case?

Well...out of those, only 18,000 connections were using the original(validated) game, and the remaining 122,000 were pirates who weren't able to update their copies, but managed to "touch" the servers somehow.

Now, Stardock only needs to enforce server security with some new patch that's harder to crack, and they can easily turn the Demigod failure into a success, at least that's how I see it.

According to Stardock, after two days, everything started to work normally. "Now today, day 3, it's pretty much taken care of. Users are connecting in multiplayer, the servers are pretty responsive and we're adding more in preparation for the weekend."

These being said, if you're bored of playing DotA or WoW...Demigod is another choice you should take into account!

Age Of Conan Update 1.4

I know some may say Age of Conan is fading, but I am glad to see this game is still struggling to make it out of the dark zone it entered, mainly because various problems that shouldn't have been there after waiting for so long to see it coming out. Today, I just got a very interesting email, saying that Age of Conan update 1.4 is ready!

Age of Conan Update 1.4

Since giving you all the details can become pretty boring, here's the short version of the entire mumbo-jumbo related to the Age of Conan update 1.4 details: "Today's update introduces several brand new high level dungeons to the Hyborian world such as ‘Xibaluku’, ‘The Slaugherhouse Cellar’, ‘Cradle of Decay’ and also opening up an additional part to the level 80 raid dungeon ‚Black Ring Citadel’. And there is a series of other significant updates to various game mechanics like raid loot options and GUI updates, PvP resources for tradeskills, tweaking of several raid boss encounters and quests."

Just as a side note, it's rather strange to see the email arriving today, and the date on the official update page being 18. After all, I got the email straight from Funcom, and not some other third party. Anyway, leaving the 1.4 update, here's another great piece of news: sweepstakes!

What about the sweepstakes? Well, if you're based in the US or Canada, and you're at least 17 years old, you can win a kick-ass computer and some other goodies, as you can see here.

That's it for today's Age of Conan updates, so you may want to check out this game, especially if you missed it so far, because Age of Conan isn't going away without a fight!

Entropia Universe News

Ehem, ehem... Entropia Universe, does that ring a bell? That's exactly what I was asking myself a few hours ago, and then it all came back to me - I tried to enjoy this game, I really did, but to no avail. In fact, I tried it back in the Project Entropia days, and it bored me to hell. All I can remember is this - "Booooooring. Next!" - this, and nothing more.
Entropia Universe
Now, things are much more interesting, with over 800,000 people inside the Entropia Universe, all for free, without any subscription fees. If you want to get a quick description, here you go - "The Entropia Universe is more than a game. The Entropia Universe is for real. Real people, real activities and a Real Cash Economy in a massive online universe."

Speaking about the future, it seems this game is going to use the CryENGINE 2, and that should say it all. If it doesn't, then you should go and read a cooking book. Really, no offense!

Getting back to the email I got a few hours ago, here you have the most interesting part -

"Double Skill Bonus in effect on Planet Calypso
January 23, 18:00 - February 2, 11:00 UTC

Every participant will receive twice the normal amount of skill experience gains during this period. The bonus will be in effect for all professions, during all activities throughout planet Calypso, Crystal Palace and Club Neverdie for this event period."

I will be honest - I have no idea if the areas above are accessible for beginners, but you should give Entropia Universe a chance. After all, you must be getting tired of WoW from time to time...
