Free Funny Games

On September 18, 2009, under the More Games Entertainment umbrella, Chillingo Ltd released a great game called "A Quest Of Knights Onrush", a free funny game. More Games Entertainment is a developer, marketer and seller of innovating games for mobile platforms. Although at the beginning, it created excellent games for mobile phones with Windows operating system, it soon redirects its attention to other mobile platform (Symbian, iPhone 3.0 operating system, Play Station Portable operating system, and Nintendo DS). You can find "A Quest Of Knights Onrush", form More Games Entertainment, on App Store.

The latest version 1.1.1 of this fun game not only is compatible to iPod touch and iPhone with the third operating system for iPhone platform, but also comes free. Just open your iTunes account and download it for free. You will not be disappointed, especially if you have enjoyed Mario adventures (on any other platforms). However, this free version is not entirely identical with the pay application.

The resemblance is in the characters used and graphic details. Even so, the game is fully functional, fun, and most importantly, free. In this version you can only control one character. Your quest is to make your way through all the enemies you will came across using just your sword. In the full version ("Knights On Rush" also on the App Store) you have to fight simultaneously at least five Knights. Your goal is to defend all the 12 castles. The game play is not just to remove your enemies from your sight, but also to break through defense systems ant destroy every enemy you can find. In "A Quest Of Knights Onrush" you have to protect your knight, while in "Knights On Rush" you are free to do whatever you want to them, blow the up, boil them, sacrifice them, freeze them, through them into the air, it is your call.

You will not find actually 11 types of enemies in "A Quest Of Knights Onrush", but will still get to fight other knights, ballista, wizards and of course the everyday swordsmen. You only goal is to survive as much as you can, in the killing enemy process. The "A Quest Of Knights Onrush" developers even stated their intention to improve this free version, making it more like the full game version (only if people will seem to enjoy this new game play).

The game increases its difficulty with every step your knight will take. You get good feedback from the controls. The whole environment has only one purpose, to damage you. Also, be careful because it will not just decrease your life bar but it will also make you vulnerable to enemy attacks. A good feature is the auto heal feature, this was mandatory in order for you to play more. You get every type of enemies you could want from a free version, either they appear flying, or just make their way to the battlefield out of the ground, this game provides sufficient activities to keep you in the game.

Because the 1.1.1 version is compatible with third version of operating system for iPhone platform, every device sporting this OS and Bluetooth can connect to each other for a multiplayer combat. However the drawbacks are consistent with the "free" type of this game. You get no save feature, no multiple levels, less enemies, abilities and objects (like in "Knights On Rush"), no consistent boss battles, or other nice features. Then again this is a free version, with the only purpose to make you buy the actual game. For a promo game with not all the elements from the "mother" game, the "A Quest Of Knights Onrush" is great for a couple of free gaming hours.

Uncover Puzzle Games

On August 08, 2009, MumboJumbo released Luxor for the iPhone OS 3.0 (version 1.0). It’s even on sale with 66% off the listing price. The iPhone version of Luxor is a high quality production with beautiful graphics. It could be considered the best marble shooter game. Worldwide over 75 million people have experienced the thrill of Luxor.

What is it about? Basically you have to save the Ancient Egypt (go figure). The goddess Isis recruits you to battle the god Set in his plan to annihilate mystical lands of Ancient Egypt. You have to destroy chains of rolling colored spheres unleashed by Set. You will control a winged shooter across the screen using your fingers. Color match three spheres to clear chains before the pyramids. Swipe (or shake) to swap sphere colors before firing a shot (this comes in handy when playing the harder levels). Your powers (deploy fire balls, lightning bolts and others) are enough to keep you entertained, while other features like collect stop, slow, reverse and speed shot power-ups will demand your attention. This is an interesting type of uncover puzzle games, in which the game elements are discovered gradually.

A cool feature is that you can challenge friends via Facebook and Twitter, doing so you earn points on Plus+, the free social play network. Luxor has great graphics and smooth gameplay. Stoneloops graphics are so choppy compared to Luxor graphics. Controls are much better. Some of the levels are recycled (stage 5 is in the same place as stage 1).

The next version of Luxor will bring difficulty modes that will allow you to earn twice the points you are making in the 1.0 version. Leader-boards to update your scores on Plus + at the end of each level.

If you enjoy Zuma or Stoneloops then this game may seem too easy. You can play up to 30 to 40 levels and not lose a life. So Luxor is an easy, but excellent action puzzle game, while Zuma is harder. Stoneloops is also fun and challenging.

Luxor has excellent controls, 3 types, but the default works perfectly. It needs no loading, each level starts immediately. Good music, levels and mechanics.

Luxor is a great adaptation of a classic PC action puzzle game to the iPhone.

Funny Sonic Games

Sonic the Hedgehog is the character of a video game, and the protagonist in video games series with the same name, which were released by Sega. It appeared in a lot of spin-off comics, books and cartoons too. The first game was released in 1991, and it was designed to provide Sega a mascot in front of the Ninento's rival character Mario. Since then, Sonic became the best known game character, his series having sold over 50 million copies. In 2005, he was introduced in the Walk of Game, next to Mario and Link.

This character was crated by the artist Naoto Ōshima, the designer Hirokazu Yasuhara and programmer Yuji Naka. This character is actually a 15 years old hedgehog, with an anthropomorphic look, who has the ability run very fast, with speeds superiors to the speed of sound. This little blue guy has also the ability to curl into a ball, to attack enemies.

There are a lot of games with Sonic: quizzes, to see how much you know about this character, games in which you have to help Sonic to defeat the True Guardian, in order to get a precious stone, in some games Sonic is lost in Super Mario's world, and he must do all the things Mario did in the game, and even a Flash creation from Sky Chase Zone, which makes Sonic walk on clouds and a final battle with Dr. Robotnik.

You can also get a Sonic the Hedgehog Scene Creator, where you can create your own game scenery, using different backgrounds, characters and scenery pieces from various games. You just simply drag and drop the items you want in your game and it is pretty cool, because you can create as many levels as you wish. For each levels there are two acts, and when you create a level, you should finish the second act to get back to the main menu. The scenery you have created can be printed, or just saved on the computer. If you have a printer, it's very easy, you just have to right click on each scenario, and then choose Print from the available options in the appearing pop-up menu. You can also copy it onto the clipboard and then open it with an image editing software, to modify it as you wish, and then save it.

Sega's mascot became one of the key reasons for company's success, and this happened during the 16-bit era of video games. Sonic is one of the most well known video games characters and in 1996, he has been seen in a Rose Parade also. Sonic is the first character which had a balloon in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and he was included with his rivals, Mario and Link, in the Walk of Game class in 2005. In 2004, this character won a Golden Joystick Award, for the title "The Sun Ultimate Gaming Hero". In 2008, he was also voted the most popular video game character, with 24% vote while Mario got only 21%. Sonic was also ranked the #1 as the most iconic video game character in all video games, while Mario and Lara Croft got less votes.
