PyroBlazer Reached Gold Status

Racing, my friends, it's all about racing! While there are plenty of racing games around, and most of them aren't bringing anything new to the genre, it is a great pleasure to discover a new release trying to get out of the pack. Don't get me wrong, I didn't run into a new NFS Porsche(that's my all-time favorite, and don't you even dare to say something bad about it!), but PyroBlazer is a game worth checking out, especially since it just reached the "gold" status.

After being initially set to arrive in May, "Pyroblazer on the PC will be available to buy through all major Digital Distribution portals from November 13th this year," at least according to the official press release. The funny part is that what you can find on the official page in the "Press Release" section still says "May 2008..."

Here's the most interesting part of the press release, now:

"Set amidst the awe-inspiring locations of New Apeiron, players get the opportunity to race through a multitude of environments using a wide selection of anti-gravity craft known as Blazers. In their quest for glory, players can blast their way through the scorched valleys of Gnosis, the deserted cities of Haedra or the densely populated Underdome of Evelads.

As the players fight their way through the championship, improved Blazers with better speed, handling and superior firepower become available. <-125x125 Button - right->Players also have the ability to pick up weapon and ammo upgrades during the race, further enhancing their ability to land the killer blow.

In addition to the single player modes such as Quick Race and Championship, Pyroblazer™ will also offer players the ability to compete against each other in 6-player local and internet-based combat racing. Powered by Eipix’s proprietary Ultra Engine and Ageia’s PhysX middleware, the game offers racing and sci-fi fans an experience unlike any other in the genre.
"

All right, but what about the system requirements? Well, none available yet, but I am sure this game won't break the record set by Crysis or, more recently, Sacred 2...

Project Torque Cars, Updated

I love racing games, and lately I got to a very interesting conclusion - racing games are the best ones for busy people! Why? The answer is simple - you can simply race 5 minutes and then get out, while it's virtually impossible to enter World of Warcraft or another MMORPG and do something that matters in less than 30 minutes or even more. Now, Aeria Games' Project Torque cars just got refreshed!

If you don't remember last time when we talked about this great game, you can check out my previous Project Torque-related article, especially to enjoy those awesome screenshots. This time, it's not about screenshots, since if you don't get to play it, screenshots are nothing. Just think about this - "Capture the Flag" gaming with cars! Obviously, this is only the cherry on top of the Project Torque cake...<-180x150 Small Rectangle - right->

This time, the Project Torque cars lot got a bit bigger with today's update, since two new offroad cars have been added - the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Toyota 4 Runner. Both cars look and handle great, but some upgrades for them seem to be a bit buggy, according to early reports. Anyway, since they are free to try before you buy, I don't see any big problem with that.

Just think about the following facts - Project Torque is free to download and play, and you can enjoy it to the fullest without having to pay a single dollar, although real world cars must be purchased using real money - or you can even get them during various promotions/contests. If you have been disappointed by the latest Need for Speed games, and you don't have the money to buy Test Drive Unlimited, or you simply want to try something new, go ahead and give Project Torque a try - it surely deserves more than just that!

FlatOut Ultimate Carnage PC

Do you know why I love the games in the FlatOut series? The answer is pretty simple - because they are the closest games to Destruction Derby 2 I could found in the last years! Why Destruction Derby 2? Well, simply because it's one of the best racing games I was playing in 1998-1999, and that's enough! Now, let's leave aside FlatOut and its sequel, FlatOut 2, and move to the latest installment in the series, FlatOut Ultimate Carnage, soon to drop on our computers...

According to Empire Interactive, the publisher of the FlatOut series in the US & Europe via retail outlets, FlatOut Ultimate Carnage should be coming to Windows PCs later this year, first in Europe, and then in the US.<-125x125 Button - right->

Regarding this third title in the series, Sean Walsh, Empire Interactive Product Manager, said "This really is the first Windows title to offer Arcade destruction racing combined with eye-popping graphics all packaged up with one of the most advanced physics engines ever seen in a racing game."

So far, so good, but I really don't know if I should cheer or not the promised Windows Live functionality, considering the reliability problems had by most games using this, such as Gears of War. Talking about the dates, Europe should see Ultimate Carnage on the 1st of August, while North America, during the first quarter of next year.
