Since the popularity of poker is on a constant increase especially thanks to the Texas Hold’em variant I thought that I should give you some information about the other variants as well. Texas Hold’em is by far the most popular type of poker game. It is played worldwide whether in casinos or by people as a friendly game without any stakes. At the World Series of Poker tournament, the No Limits Texas Hold’em game is the one which offers the largest sums of money and it is every poker payer’s dream to win that final table. The game can be played by various numbers of people two being the lowest and ten being the highest.

You should know that the game of poker can be split up into three main categories: draw poker, stud poker, and community card poker. Texas Hold’em belongs to the latter category. The community card poker uses community cards which are those cards that are common for all the players at the table and which everyone can see and use. In the game of Hold’em each player will receive two cards which only he or she can see and then 5 community cards will be placed faced-up on the table. First 3 cards will be placed, followed by a round of betting, another card, another round of betting, another card then the final round of betting. The cards ranking is exactly the same as in the case of any type of poker.

Another very popular poker variant is the 5-card draw which is as you might have intuited a draw poker type. This used to be the most popular type of poker until Hold’em. Since it is a draw poker style, each player will receive a complete hand before the first round of betting and then the player will have the possibility of replacing or drawing up to three cards from the first hand and then another round of betting occurs. This game is still very popular in tournaments and in casinos worldwide.

Another popular poker variant is the Seven-card stud, which is a stud poker type. The stud poker games are characterized by the fact that each person gets a mix of face-down and face-up cards between various betting rounds. In Seven-card stud the players will first receive three cards (two downcards and one upcard) then three upcards and then a downcard. A round of betting occurs between each new card which means that there will be more betting rounds than in the case of Texas Hold’em.
