The internet is a huge world wide network, that today has taken control of most of the activities. So we can’t even imagine how the world would have been in 2010 without computers and internet. But this network appeared many years ago, and first it was used just for political and military purposes. But in time it began to expand more in more, first in the United States, and then all over the world. Today there are billions of internet users every day, and they are using it for all sort of activities, such as: communicating with each other, working, making money, buying or selling, but also to have fun and relax. One of the best fun activities on the internet is to play a free online game.  These are simple games (that are using the flash technology) and they are absolutely free. There is no need for installation because you will play them directly from their site.

The topics of these games are very diversified and can satisfy anyone’s wishes. You can think that most of the games are for kids, but in time it appeared a new category of games: the games played by adults from work, just to have some fun and relax while they are taking a break. There are also sport games, shooting games, adventure games, puzzle games and so on. There are games where you can solve mysteries and crimes, other where you shoot bad guys, or save princesses, others where you are racing with different vehicles, and others where you play all kinds of sports like: tennis, volleyball, ski, pool, soccer and so on.

Some games have fictional characters, while others have characters inspired by the real life. For example you can play soccer with Beckham, or make George Bush to do some sport, or help Paris Hilton escape out of jail. Usually the kids games have funny looking characters, such as monkeys, penguins, bunnies and so on. Some kids games are for boys (usually the racing or shooting games) and others are for girls. One of the most popular type of girl games are the dress up games.

So today we are going to choose a game of this type, and discuss all about it. Let’s take for example the game called “Sakaki”. As you might notice from the name, this is a Japanese game. Japanese people have always been famous for their cartoons, with specific looking characters, called “manga”.



These cartoons are loved by kids all over the world, and of course many people had used this type of characters into video games as well. And Sakaki dress up game is one of them. So when entering the game, you will first see a funny looking girl, with big eyes, wearing just her underwear. Don’t worry because this is a non sexual nudity so the kids won’t be bothered by it. And your objective will be to dress up this naked girl, exactly how you like. Just pick some of the clothes on  each side of the girl, and drag and drop them on the girl’s body. If you choose to begin with the head, you will have a few hats and caps to choose from, all in different colors and shapes. One of the most interesting head accessories is a hat which looks just like a cat’s head, with ears and eyes.

After choosing the right accessory for the head, you can move on to the torso. Here you will have an even bigger variety of clothes to pick from. There will be blouses, t-shirts, under vests, dresses and also a one piece bathing suit. Each one also has a different color and shape, so any girl should be happy. After you are ready with the torso, then you can move on to the next body part – the legs. Here you will have many models of jeans, pants, dresses or skirts. The most glamorous one is a big and pink dress. After you are ready with this, you can go even lower, and pick something to put on her feet. Of course you can’t leave her barefooted, so she must wear some shoes. Here you can choose from many types of boots, sneakers or shoes, all in different colors and styles.

But you are not ready yet! If you are happy with the way she looks, then you can press the next button. But if you aren’t, you can always press the reset button, and all the clothes will get back to their initial position, and the girl will be naked again. So after you press the next button, then you will have to write your name or nickname. But this is not all, and after pressing the next button again you will get the chance to make a background for your girl. You will have a big palette of colors, and you can paint it how you want. Then press the ok button, and you will see the image of the girl, exactly how you dressed her, and she will be placed on the background that you made earlier. During the game you will listen to some Japanese music, which you can stop if you don’t like it. After completing the game, you can always choose to play it again, and dress up the girl in a different way. Have fun!

Some cool type of parties, that appeared in the United States and Canada but became famous in other countries too, are the baby shower parties. A party  like this is made to celebrate the future or recent birth of a baby. The actual (or future) parents of the child will invite friends and relatives at their home, and the guests will bring all sort of gifts for the baby. But this party is not just about giving gifts, because the guests will be rewarded with delicious food, desserts, music   and other things. To bring more fun to party, you can also try some funny baby shower games.

So today we are going to take some random games and discuss more about them. Some of the games are directly related to the baby, and others are just made to stimulate the guests to talk and to interact with each other. You can also make some prizes for some of the game, to make the winner feel good about himself. It is not necessary to give expensive gifts, it is enough to put a small and simple prize, with a symbolic meaning. A first example  is the “Pin the binky on the baby” game. For this game you will first need to make a poster out of a big baby image and also a few pacifiers. Then blindfold one guest at a time, and he will have to place the pacifier as close as possible to the baby’s mouth, without seeing anything. To make this task more difficult, spin the guest a few times before starting the game, to make him a little dizzy so he won’t be able to place the pacifier very easy. The guest who will be the closest to the mouth is the winner. This game can be quite fun, and it will put the guests on the move.

A game that is not directly related to the baby, but which will make your guests have some fun  is the “piggy bank activity”. First get a piggy bank and then ask each of the guests to add some change to it. Then ask each person to take a guess of the total amount of money found in the piggybank. After each person made a guess, count all the money. The person who was the closest is the winner, and you can give him all the money from the piggybank as a prize.

Another fun game is the “celebrity baby game”. For this one you will have to make some preparations before the guests arrive. Print some baby pictures and also some images with faces of famous people. Cut just the body of each baby, and just the face of each celebrity and then glue them together on a big cardboard. Give a number to each image, and then pass papers and pencils to each guest. They will have to guess the face of each celebrity, and write their name on the paper. The person to guess most of the names is the winner.



A game similar to the one with the piggybank is the “M & M’s baby bottle guess”. The name says it all: you will have to place some M & M –s in a baby bottle, and the guests will have to guess how many they are. Of course you will have to count them before beginning the game, and not waist time to count them with your guests next to you. The person who will guess the correct number, or the person who is the closest is the winner, and you can give him all the candies as a  price.

Another fun game involving pictures is called “baby pictures”. For this one you will also have to make some preparation before the guests arrive. Actually ask each of the guests a few days earlier to bring at the party a picture with themselves as a baby. Give a number to each of the picture, and then place them on a table or on a clipboard. Give a piece of paper and a pencil to each person, and they will have to guess which person is in each baby picture. This game should be played if the guests already know each other, and they are  friends, otherwise it will be difficult for them to guess. The person with the most correct guesses wins.



A game that will test the language knowledge of the guests is called “Mommies and babies”. In this one the guests will have to say the correct name of the baby of different animals. You (the host) will read one animal name at a time, and then each guest will have to write on a piece of paper the baby name for that animal. If you don’t know many animals and their baby names, don’t worry because we will give you some examples: bear – cub, cat – kitten, horse – foal, duck –duckling, swan – cygnet or goose – gosling,  cow – calf, pig – piglet, dog – puppy, hen – chick, duck –duckling. The person to get most of the correct answers is the winner.

Another game that is directly related to the baby and also to the mom is the “guess the waist size”. In this one the guests will have to estimate the waist size of the pregnant women. Of course they can’t use numbers, because the future mom can get upset. There is another method: pass around  a ball of yarn and a pair of scissors. Each of the guests will  have to cut a piece of yarn, with the length that they consider is the correct size of the mom’s belly. After they all did this, the host will measure her waist with another piece of yarn, and then you will compare all the pieces. The person who was the closest to the correct length is the winner. The game can be quite fun, and you will be surprised to find out that there will be a lot of variation in the guesses of the guests.

First it was found on all the recent versions of Windows (from Windows 95 until today)  and now it has many versions and you can also play it on the internet.

Like we said, it is very popular all over the world and a lot of people are playing it to fill up their free time. In England is also known with the name "patience" and in Italy and Spain it is also called solitario. The Solitaire card game is not actually a single game, but a family of games,  with hundred of different versions and variations. The game is usually played with a standard deck of 52 cards, and the basic idea is to sort the cards into a specific order, depending on the game. You will win if the sorting is completed. Some of them are very easy to complete, some rely only on good luck, but there are also others which are requiring a lot of skills and concentration and some that are nearly impossible to complete. Some of the most popular Solitaire games are: Canfield, Accordion, Freecell, Klondike (this is the one that everyone knows from their Windows), Golf, Pyramid or Spider Solitaire. The Solitaire games were not invented along with the computers, and they are been played for many years, with a real set of card. It is believed that even Napoleon Bonaparte liked to play Solitaire during his exile at St. Helena. Another famous person who liked to play Solitaire was Franklin D. Roosevelt, and his favorite game was the Spider Solitaire.

First let's talk about the Solitaire glossary, that means the usual terms that you will find in this game. A build is an ordered sequence of cards in a pile.  Building means to add a card to a pile. When building up you are playing the cards in ascending order, and when building down you are playing them in a descending way. A column is a vertical pile of cards which are overlapping with each other. The deck is usually referring the set of 52 cards. A fan means a pile that has been spread out, and all of the cards are visible to the player. A foundation is a type of pile and it is usually the final destination for the cards in a game. It is usually empty at the beginning and you will have to complete it with cards and sometimes it may have a starting card included. The pile refers to a bunch of cards. A pile can be squared (only the card at the top can be seen) or spread out, when all the cards can be seen. It can also be empty when it doesn't have any cards in it.

The rank refers to the value of the cards. The numeric order of the cards is usually this: A - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 - J - Q - K. So the Ace is the card with the lowest rank, and the king has the highest rank. When you redeal , you are turning the pile of cards upside down to create a new stock pile. Some games allow an unlimited number of redeals, some just one, and other don't allow any redeal of cards. The stock is the pile from where the cards are dealt from. Usually cards are removed from the stock and played to the foundation or waste until the stock is empty. The suit is referring to the type of the cards. There are 4 types: Hearts, Spades, Diamonds and Clubs. The Hearts and Diamonds are red, and the Spades and Clubs are black. The waste and tableau are other types of piles. The tableau is used to search through the cards for opportunities, and the top card from the waste can be moved to another pile, depending on the type of game.

Enough with the definitions, let's talk about some of the Solitaire card games instructions. We'll begin with the instructions for the most famous type of Solitaire game, which is the Klondike. This game is using one deck of 52 cards. 28 of the cards are placed into 7 tableau piles. The first pile has one card, the next one has 2, and so on until seven. You are able to see just the first card from each of the piles. The purpose of this game is to discover the cards one by one, and to place them into a numeric order. First you will have to move the aces to the foundations, and then all the cards in numeric order until the kings. Here you will also have to respect the suits and colors (for example a 5 of Hearts must be placed over a 4 of Hearts).

To discover the cards you will have to shuffle through the cards from the initial deck, and also to turn the cards that are hidden. To help you do this, you can build  tableau piles by alternating colors (for example you can place a 5 of Hearts (red) only over a black 4 - Spades or Clubs).  You can move one card at a time, and also a group of cards which is already arranged into numeric order. If one of the piles gets empty, you can fill it with a King or a group of hearts that begins with a King. If there are no possibilities left for movement, all you can do is redeal, and start all over again. It is one of the most simplest and fun solitaire games, and can be enjoyed by both children and adults.

We will also present the gaming instructions for another famous Solitaire game which is the Spider Solitaire. This game is using two decks of cards. 54 cards are spread to 10 tableau piles. The first card from each pile is faced up. The goal of this game is to build 8 sequences down in suit within the tableau and after that move them to 8 foundations. Each tableau has to run from King to Ace. You can build tableau piles down, no matter the suit, and it has to end with an Ace. You can't put a King on an Ace. You can move one card at a time, or groups of cards in numeric order and of the same suit. When a pile remains empty you can fill it with any card or group of cards. All the empty tableau piles have to be filled before the dealing, and you don't have any redeal available. Good luck!
