If you ever played a free online flash game, you probably noticed that the topics of these games are really diversified. You can find practically any kind of game you want. There are so many game categories and here are just some of them: racing games, sport games, fighting games, RPG games, adventure games, card games, casino games, puzzle games and so on. There are also many sites on the internet that are offering flash games, and each one has its own games. Of course there are some games found on many sites not just on one, but still there are thousands of games for you to play so you can never get bored. The characters of the games are also very diversified, from funny looking creatures, to spooky monsters and aliens, but there are also real persons in the games. For example you will find many actors, singers and even politicians that you can make to do all sort of funny things.

But not all the games are funny and silly, there are also some educational games. Beside the fact that they will keep you busy and make you get read of boredom, they will also stimulate your intelligence and test your knowledge in a certain domain. Today we are going to talk about some chemistry related fun games.

Let’s begin with the game called “Element quiz game”.  This has 2 levels, a learning one and then a playing level. Use the learning level to learn the groups of elements and their proprieties. Either click on the chemical symbol on the table or click on an element in the checkbox to see where it is on the table. When you think you know most of the elements groups, then proceed to Element Groups – Level One. The group of elements found on the table will be: actinides, alkali earth metals, alkali metals, boron group, carbon group, halogens, hydrogen, lanthanides, nitrogen group, noble gases, oxygen group and transition metals. By clicking on one of the groups from the left side of the screen you will see all the elements from that group, their position in the periodic table and also all the useful information needed about each group. So if you are in high school, and you don’t want to study the chemistry from books or notebooks, you can always study it using this game. After you think you are ready with the studying of the elements, move to the next level. Use this level to learn the trivia about the groups of elements. Click on what you think is the correct area for the group of elements that the trivia question describes. Try speed play using the option button and keep playing until you can complete the periodic table fast. At that point you can say that you are really good.

After learning the major groups of elements, you can move on to the next game, where you will learn each element individually. You might think that there are so many of them but in time you will be able to learn them all. You can do this if you are taking advance studies in chemistry (chemistry college). If you are not so interested in this domain and you just want to gain more general knowledge, then you learn about the most important and know elements from the table (such as hydrogen, magnesium, oxygen, iron and so on). This game is simply called “periodic table” and it can be found on this site: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/Elementsgames.htm . The default setting for this game is “all the elements”, but if you are not a specialist we recommend to select one group of elements at a time, because it will be easier for you. Then either click on the chemical symbol on the table, or click on an element in the checkbox to see where it is on the table. When clicking on an element you will hear a female voice with the correct English pronunciation of its name. You will also find all the useful information about that element, in the lower left side of the screen. When you think you know most of the elements you can proceed to the trivia questions : Periodic Table – level one (beginner), level 2 (advanced beginner), level 3 (intermediate), level 4 – expert and level five – master. So after all, these trivia games can be quite fun, and also very useful when you want to know everything about the periodic table and all of its elements.

Another chemistry related fun game that we found is the “Penalty Shootout - The Particle Theory”. This is both a chemistry and soccer game, so it can be quite fun. You can play it in one or two players. After that, you can choose your player. Here you will find many famous people such as: Bill Gates, Hilary Clinton, Thierry Henry, Karl Marx, Michael Jordan, Gandhi, Che Guevara, Robbie Williams, William Shakespeare and many more others. You can also choose the keeper skill, and this can be simply awful, average, good, top quality or random. You can also choose the colour of your equipment.  There are many colours that you can choose from. The rules of the game are simple:  you will first be asked a chemistry question, with 4 possible answers. After you are sure of the answer (there is no time limit, so you can even search for the answer on the internet) click on it and see if it’s correct. If you got the right answer, then you get the chance to shoot a penalty strike. To do this just click on the screen next to the ball, when the green spot indicates the position you want to shoot at. If you don’t get the right answer to the question, there will still be penalty shootout, but the keeper will save the ball, or it will hit the post. But still you will see the correct answer of the question, so you will know what answer to choose in the future. So this is a nice game, where you can improve your chemistry knowledge and also play some soccer. Have fun!

So these were just some of the chemistry related online games that we found, and of course there are many more others. If you know a game of this type, tell us all about it!
