EA Closing Down A Few Localised Studios
All gamers should be familiar with Electronic Arts and the games they make (like the Need for Speed series). Recently the management of the company decided to close down two if its studios, namely EA Chertsey from UK and EA Chicago from the US. Frank Gibeau, EA Games president stated: ..."the toughest decision I've made in my career - one that in no way reflects on the talent and dedication of the people who work there." He also praised Kudo Tsunoda, the general studio manager as one of the most creative minds in the industry. Gibeau added that all the employees who were affected by this decision will be ofered jobs at the other EA Studios or will be offered assistance in finding new jobs as soon as possible.Gibeau said that the company supports teams and individuals between launches, but that each team is responsible for staying on a reasonable level to profitability, as the company's philosophy states. So it was pretty obvious what went behind the scenes and led to this outcome. Great gaming titles have always brought fame and good reputation to EA in the past and let's hope we'll hear some good things about them in the future too.
