But there are some that don’t require payment in order to play – the free online MMORPG games. These gaming communities sustain themselves and the costs of theirs servers by adding the Donation option or adding some certain features (like boosts or special visual traits) that require a one-time payment. Also, they depend on advertising other products on their homepage for a steady income.

Surely, everybody heard of World of Warcraft that has over 11.5 million paying subscribers. But there are other relatively similar MMORPGs out there that don’t require you to pay one cent and still get the entertainment World of Warcraft gives its players.

The first in this category of Free Online MMORPG Games is Runes of Magic. Its graphics and gameplay are very similar to the above-mentioned World of Warcraft, but this one does not require a monthly fee, although there is an Item Shop that requires real money transactions, thus facilitating access to special gear to paying players. Other then that, customization of characters is very well-developed, it has a unique multi-class system which assures you won’t get bored very fast of your characters. Also, the graphics are pretty amazing as well. If all these things didn’t get your attention, maybe the fact that at last count, more then two million users were reported to have an account on the game –might stir up your interest.

The second Free Online MMORPG Game worth mentioning is Fiesta Online. Although resembling most of its MMORPG peers, Fiesta Online has a touch of color to it and it requires no sort of payment whatsoever. The characters are 3D rendered anime characters and the graphics are overall enchanting. The downside to the game is that it’s not as complex as other memorable MMORPGs and some may find the one-point per level system a bit annoying and the repetitive combat a bit boring. Overall though, the wonderful interface and the well-balanced skill progression system, alongside the complex item crafting and resource gathering system it makes a fine way to loose an afternoon or two.

Third most prominent Free Online MMORPG Game out there is none other then Dungeons & Dragons Online, inspired after the classic tabletop role playing game Dungeons and Dragons. There are some character classes and areas in-game that need payment in order to be accessed, but these downsides fail in front of the detailed character creation and the intriguing and addictive face-paced gameplay. Also, the graphics are stunning and similarity with the tabletop game will surely give Dungeons & Dragons enthusiasts something to get hooked on.

There are quite a lot of games available out there for everybody to play, free of charge. But it’s at the same time understandable that they would require some sort of funding, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself in need of a certain item that you can’t get unless you decide to pay a few real-life coins.
