Free Online Spelling Games
If you want to have some fun by playing a video game, but you also don’t want to spend money for buying one, then you should definitely choose to play a free online game. These kind of games are usually using the flash technology and they have quite simple graphic and game play, but they can be really fun and addictive. A normal flash game usually lasts for just about 5-10 minutes, but of course some of them are longer. But don’t worry if a game ends so soon, because there are thousands of free online games, and there are more appearing each day, so you will always have something to play.
The topics of these kinds of games are really diversified and there is a game for everyone. Most of the games are quite funny and silly but there are also some educative games. Others like the puzzle games can be very stimulating for your mind and some games are really useful for the kids, learning them a lot of useful things. For example they can learn the numbers, the alphabet, math, chemistry and they also can learn how to spell just by playing a game. So today we are going to talk about some of the many free online spelling games from the internet.

A site that is offering some nice spelling games (which are also free) is http://www.kidsspell.com/. Here you will find some easy spelling games, which are for younger children and they have shorter words, harder spelling games (for older children with medium length words) and also a game that is realty difficult and who is for older students, with medium and long words. Beside playing these games, you can also create your own spelling game, with the words you want. So a parent can make a spelling game for his child, learning the exact words he want.
Now let’s begin with one of the easier games, and we’ll choose the one called “Spelloons”. Your mission here is to click on the good balloons and keep them in the air. Each balloon has a word written in it, and here will be two kinds of balloons: the good ones and the ones that are spelled wrong. Don’t click on the wrong balloons and don’t let the god ones to fall and hit the spikes. If you make three mistakes the game is over. Remember that because the wrong spelled balloons are based on your spelling list, it is possible for a wrong spelled balloon to be a real word. You need to ask “is this word on my spelling list?”. So just consult the spelling list below the game before starting it, choose a new one if you like, or just create your own list. During the game just click on the good balloons to keep them in the air, and for each good click you will get points. Try to make a higher score, and then move on to other words.

Let’s move on to the next game, the “missing letter match”. Here, Gil the bad character has taken some of the letters of Terry the Star. Your mission will be to help Terry to get back his letters. Use the mouse to drag the letters back to the correct word. In the upper side of the screen, under the star there will be the missing words. And below there will be the big yellow face that stolen the letters, and the letters flying all over the screen. You will have to carefully look at each letter, and each word and see which one where it fits. When you figured it out, just drag the letter on the word. If you got the letter right, the word will be automatically completed, and that box will turn red. If the letter does not fit, it will simply remain in the air, and continue its way. There is no time limit, so if you are not sure of the answers just take each letter and try it in each word. There are many levels, each with its different words and letters. Good luck!
Now let’s present a harder spelling game, for example the Spellify 500. This one is a racing game and you must collect the letters in the right order to correctly spell the words displayed. Use the left and right arrow keys to steer and the A key to speed up and the Z key to slow down. The sound of the vehicle in this game will be really annoying so we suggest to lower the volume. It is not such a good racing game, because the care will probably has no speed limit. We went as far as 500 mph and who knows how far the speedometer can go :). But the goal of the game is not to drive as fast as possible, but to drive at a decent speed, so you’ll be able to collect the correct letters and make the word. Notice that the spelling list is exactly the same in all the games, so you might want to change it for each game that you play.
Now let’s play the game called “Letter drop”. Here you must spell all your spelling words before the letter box overflows. To spell a word click on the letter blocks in the correct order. When you have all the letters in the right order, click the “check word” button. So are you fast enough? This game will teach your kid how to spell different words, but will also improve his agility of using the mouse.

And finally let’s discuss about the most difficult spelling game from this site, the Farkie Frog. Farkie is a cute looking frog that loves to spell. She does this every time she gets the chance, and sometimes even when she shouldn’t. Sometimes spelling can be dangerous. Use the arrow keys to help guide the frog around cars and across the fast moving river to collect the letters she needs for each spelling word. And also watch out for the time! The game be quite difficult…and the difficulty is not in spelling the words, but in getting to each letter without being hit by a car or falling into water. Good luck!
