Free Play Sonic Online Games

Every person that was a child or teenager in the 90’s and liked video games must know about the famous Sonic character. Sonic the Hedgehog is a series of video games released by Sega, with the main character with the same name. The first Sonic game was launched in 1991 and this is the actual game that made famous the Sega consoles. After a while, the Sonic game was the default game that you will receive when buying a Mega Drive / Genesis game console in America and Europe. Until the year 2008 there were sold about 50 million copies of the Sonic games. There were different versions made, and the game evolved from one version to another.

Being so famous all over the world there were made many other things about the Sonic character. For example there were made many cartoons with the hedgehog and his friends, many comic books, t-shirts and so on. We already know that the topics of the free online flash games are really diversified, and that there are games with practically anything. So of course there were made a lot of free online Sonic games, and this is what we are going to discuss about today.

We found quite many Sonic games on the site funny-games.biz, so we are going to choose some from here. The first game that you will find on the site is actually an original game from the Sega console, so this is why the graphic and the sounds will look like in the 90’s. The game is simply called “Sonic the hedgehog” and it is quite an addictive game. You will have to guide the hedgehog through the levels, defeat the enemies and beat the bosses from the end of each level. You will have to use the left and right arrow keys to move and the space bar to jump. If you hold the down arrow key, press the space bar and then release the down arrow, the character will spindash. You can play with Sonic, but you can also choose some of his friends like Tails, Knuckles and Cream. Sonic is famous for being very fast, so he is the same in this game. Even when just walking he will move fast, but when you make a spindash he will go really fast. To kill an enemy simply jump, and Sonic will rotate fast in the air and destroy the enemy. Along the way also collect the golden rings for more points. The game is really fun to play, and all the things will be happening so fast. So be careful at enemies, spikes or other obstacles, and of course, have fun!

The next game we’ll be playing is the “Sonic in angel island”. The rules and controls for this game are pretty much the same as in the previous game. But the difference lies in the graphic, which is much better than in the previous game. And of course all the enemies are different, and all the levels. I personally consider that your character is too small, and it should have been bigger. But beside this, the game is really fun and will keep you busy for some time. Good luck!

There was made even an RPG (role playing game) with Sonic and this is the “Final fantasy Sonic X 6 game”. You will meet all your favourite Sonic characters in this RPG fighting game. Use many skills, spells and special moves to try to beat the opponents. The game contains a lot of stories and movies but this can be a good thing for the real Sonic fans. Unless you like Japanese music, we suggest skipping the introduction movie. When being asked “Play intro?” just choose the No answer, otherwise there will be a movie beginning with all the credits of the game and some Japanese music, and you won’t even be able to stop it. You have 2 possibilities: watch the whole movie or simply refresh the page and don’t choose the “play intro” again :). Actually this is not a real game, and all you have to do is sit back and watch the videos. It’s just like watching a Sonic cartoon. After a while, when a battle begins, you will be able to play, but just to simply select an action for Sonic, and he will do all the job. So if you are really a fan of Sonic and you want to follow his adventures, you should choose this game.

When visiting the site, and searching through the games using the “Sonic” word, you will find 8 games. There are actually 7 with the Sonic hedgehog, and the “Sonic boom town” game is totally different. That is also a fun game, but we’ll discuss it in a future article, one about racing or car flash games.

So now let’s get back to a real Sonic game. A different kind of game with the Sonic hedgehog is the Sonic Speed Spotter. Here you won’t have to race or to fight enemies, but you will have to spot the differences between two images. There will be a race involved – you against the clock. You will have two images in front of you and as you move the mouse, it will move in both images. This way it will be easier for you to spot the differences. When you find one, just click on it. If you will gain points it means the difference is correct, but if you click in a wrong place you will lose points. When gaining points the number will appear in white and when you lose them it will be in red. There are 11 images, and each one will have a certain number of differences to spot.
