Funny Games

Appy Entertainment is located in Carlsbad, California. The company was founded in October, 2008 by former executives of High Moon Studios. On August 25, 2009 it released a great game known as the Face Fighter. This funny game is already at the 2.0 version for the iPhone OS 3.0. Face Fighter is an action game were your boss or even estranged friends are your nemesis. How it works? It's a three step process: get a picture, drop your enemies face on the top of a body and fight.

The game had such a success not only because of what you are playing but also because of the slogan: "If it has a face, you can fight it" (genius). So you can fight friends, foes, pets and even movie characters. Before you start beating him down, remember that your opponent is a cagey boxer who will do the same to you. The game play is really easy. You have easy button controls who let you take down your opponent with fists and feet but also with crazy weapons like wrenches and hammers. If Celebrity Deathmatch was your favorite show, then Face Fighter is your favorite iPhone game. You can work out your frustrations by beating up your boss, a spoiled rich kid from your class or just plain stupid annoying people. Face Fighter is fast, frantic fun for everyone. The characters feel alive and that is hilarious. The animation is nicely done. However there isn't so much fighting experience in this game although the controls work fine.

The best feature is that you can import someone's picture into the game to bloody his / hers face. The surprise will be after the first match fought, when you see how bad you can beat your friends' faces in. However this is more a funny game then a fighting one. The version 2.0 brings multiplayer game play. You can now play against real live opponents. In order for this to happen you need iPhone OS 3.0 on every device involved in the peer to peer multiplayer combat. The 2.0 version also makes the action hotter and heavier with great sound effects.

So in the end of the day, what is this game, a fighter or a funny game? In the tradition of classic fighting games like Street Fighter, Face Fighter delivers a great comic punch. It's an absolutely hilarious game, with some creativity topping. The game it's a reminder of early versions of Mortal Kombat. For $0.99 this is a must buy for you iPod Touch or iPhone with 3.0 OS.
