The game has been launched, but not without a few (or more) flaws. Apparently, a driver conflict, considered to be a software "bug" (glitch) prevented the beta testers to play the game in DirectX 10 mode with the ATI (AMD) Catalyst video driver in its latest version, 7.10. While the developers had enough time to fix this issue as they have a forum board with specific sections where bugs can be reported on the official site, it appears that this problem is still present in the "gold retail" version, which makes me think (I was one of the alpha and beta testers!) that they took pretty seriously the "deal" they had with Nvidia and ignored completely the fans who own latest generation ATI cards.

The solution they recommended is to revert back to the 7.9 version of Catalyst driver, which works amasingly well. Therefore, this is both hilarious and irritating as the latest generation of ATI video cards are perfectly capable of running games on DirectX 10, and I can confirm that as all the other games work(!) and very well also. The logos of Nvidia video cards are excessively present within the game in the "Tube Stations" - so yes, it is a game allegedly optimised for Nvidia video cards. But this does not mean the game cannot or should not be played on ATi cards, and so the developers of the game have no excuse for this shortcomming as they had plenty of time to look at the board forum and see the big flaws while the beta testing was in heat. And if that's not ridiculous enough, here's another one: they released 2 (not 1, but 2!) patches, namely
Patch0 and a second one,
Patch0.1, but these still didn't solve the above mentioned problem. So the gamers with ATI cards have two choices: either use the 7.9 Catalyst to play in DirectX 10 mode, or use Catalyst 7.10 but play in DirectX 9.0c mode.

Yeah this is something I'm facing with the game right now running an ATI 2900xt. Its a real shame, this is one game I guess I won't be playing what with so many compeating companies are more then capable of delivering an excellent game on a large variety of system types.

The developers just happened to work on systems mostly based on Nvidia cards, but you can use the 7.9 driver without any problem, just like I mentioned in the game review: http://www.playerzblog.com/hellgate-london-a-knight-story.html
