I get that people want to move ahead and might feel behind their friends, but most games are not that hard to level in and get gold/silver/magic pebbles. Sometimes it's easy to get so focused on making a particular goal, like saving for a mount, that you forget that once you reach it, it's a bit anti-climactic. It depends on the situation of course, but I can only imagine how much worse it would be to just buy it and have it handed to you. Mmmm.
