Wrath Of The Lich King Collector’s Edition - There Is Still Hope!

Oh, my, World of Warcraft. Whatta topic, whatta topic! Now that we left behind the Wrath Of The Lich King release date, there's something every hardcore WoW fan must do, and that is purchasing the Wrath Of The Lich King, collector flavor, of course! But... where to get it, when it seems there's no place to find this gaming treasure yet?

Fortunately, you can get it from GameStop, although there's a limit of only 2 per household. "Well, sorry kids, but mom and dad will get these hot items now, you can go and play your regular editions!" Even more, paying $70 for such a package doesn't sound expensive at all to me, considering what's inside the box:

- World of Warcraft: The Wrath of the Lich King on DVD-ROM.
- The Art of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, a 208-page book featuring never-before-seen images from the game.
- An exclusive in-game pet: Frosty, the baby frost wyrm.
- A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, the Wrath of the Lich King intro cinematic with director’s commentary, and more.
- The official soundtrack CD, containing 21 epic tracks from the game, along with exclusive bonus tracks.
- A mouse pad featuring a map of the newly opened continent of Northrend.
- Two World of Warcraft Trading Card Game March of the Legion™ starter decks, along with two exclusive cards available only in the Collector’s Edition.

An additional handling fee of $4.99 will apply to the price of exactly $69.99, with the game shipping on the 13th of the month. Let's hope this won't bring any bad luck for those in need... after all, "You’ve turned the tide against the demonic evils of Outland. Now the Lich King Arthas has set in motion events that will lead to the extinction of all life on Azeroth. With the undead legions of the Scourge threatening to sweep across the land, you must strike at the heart of the frozen abyss and end the Lich King’s reign of terror for all time…"

If the chain of events described above will bring fortune or death, that's for you to decide... but if you find other locations where Wrath Of The Lich King Collector's Edition can be ordered, please drop a comment below. Thank you in advance!

Trainz 2009 Goes Beta!

If I look back and think about Trainz, there are two things instantly showing up in my mind. Well, maybe three - Transport Tycoon Deluxe, Trainz, and Railroad Tycoon 2. No, I won't say anything more than just those names, because each of them has a pretty long history behind it - at least for me - and I don't want to write a "Gaming Bible" here and now, all right?

Trainz 2009 is going into beta, as over 1,000 registered members from TrainzDev.com have been invited to join the test group, with more to follow. Tony Hilliam, Auran Games CEO, said "We're thrilled to have reached our Beta milestone, and the early feedback from testers has been extremely positive. We have built up a fantastic community over the past 8 years since Trainz began and everything is pointing towards Trainz 2009 being our best ever version."

The list of new features in Trainz 2009 looks like this:

- The largest ever collection of quality routes, locos, rolling stock and scenery.
- Twice the detail - trains, terrain and textures in higher resolution.
- Optimizations allow twice the scenery detail as well.
- New ground clutter and decals add gritty realism to your world.
- More tools in Surveyor to allow easier terrain deformation and track laying.
- Improved physics and easier re-configuration of locos and rolling stock.
- New user interface and Help system putting Trainz power into the hands of everyone.
- Improvements to Content Manager Plus to make organizing your content even easier.
- Embedded web browser allows more interaction, more information, more immersion.
- Trainz Exchange Community Portal for online chat, blogs, wikis and "scrapbooks".
- Screenshot and video capture functions to help capture and share your experience.
- Enormous content update to ensure maximum compatibility between versions.

If you hurry up and pre-order, you will also get access to the Beta, as well as a 60% discount for Railroad Lines, Bus Simulator and Ship Simulator, as well as 20% off to purchase Engineers Edition. Pretty cool, huh?

Gears Of War 2 Release Follow-Up

Oh my, Gears of War again! Obviously, there would still be plenty to say about the first Gears of War game, especially for those (like me) who didn't have a chance to enjoy it properly yet, but today it's all about Gears of War 2 release and the result. Well, it's less about the release, and more about the outcome in terms of sales and we'll even have some video games statistics with this ocasion, too!

I don't know why, but it seems UK is the most interesting European gaming market...or the only one delivering the market statistics in time, hahaha! Anyway, according to the latest sales reports, Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360 managed to climb above Sony's PS3 LittleBigPlanet in the British All Formats charts. Even more interesting, the Gears of War 2 release happened on the 7th of the month, while LittleBigPlanet had a headstart, being released on the 5th.

Since I mentioned video games statistics earlier, here you have them:

1. Gears of War 2
2. FIFA 09
3. Fallout 3
4. LittleBigPlanet
5. WWE Smackdown Vs RAW 2009
6. Professor Layton and the Curious Village
7. Mario Kart Wii
8. Quantum of Solace
9. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009
10. Wii Fit

Of course, we're talking about the UK top I mentioned earlier, but it's good to see the impact had by the Gears of War 2 release on the market. Also, I must point out that the FIFA franchise continues to remain a strong seller, although FIFA 09 doesn't bring anything really new, in my opinion...

Gears Of War 2, Finally!

Gears of War 2 has finally arrived, hooray! Back in 2006, the first game managed to be a Xbox 360 best seller, and the PC version didn't do too bad, either. Now, the second installment in the series(hopefully, we'll get at least two more) promises to do the same, but bigger, better, faster, and delivering more fun than before.

What Gears of War 2 delivers is new characters, an improved graphics engine, a better plot and so on, but - unfortunately - it also has the same drawbacks, starting great and finishing a bit too early, just like someone said "enough of this, the story is too long, it ends HERE!..."

The new characters list includes Chairman Prescott, the military leader of COG, with strong dicatatorial tendencies, Tai Kaliso, "a spiritual and meditative warrior from a tradition of honor bound fighters," and Dizzy, a former Stranded who joined the COG with a noble goal - to keep his family safe.

Regarding the plot, I won't tell you anything. In fact, I guess I won't tell you anything else, since Gears of War 2 is out, and you have no excuse for missing it! Just grab it, let it roll, and find a good excuse for missing to get to your job a few days in a row. That's all, just be sure you don't get fired! ;)

European Games Statistics

When talking about games statistics, numbers always come in first place, because customer satisfaction is something a bit more difficult to assess. Just think about a MMORPG game - while veteran players of the genre may go crazy about a title and appreciate a lot of things hidden to the novice's eye, a beginner may simply label it as "boring" and move on(that was the case with me and World of Warcraft, hahahaha!). Anyway, this is not about MMORPG statistics, since we already talked a bit earlier this week about WoW's latest milestone reached; today is all about European games statistics. To be more accurate, we're going to see how well is doing Nintendo(and the other consoles) in Europe.

Just don't ask why I usually put forward Nintendo - I already told you one day that I have some extremely pleasant memories related to it, and that's all. Now, let's focus on the European games statistics - the Wii was Europe's top seller, with over 10.4 million units in the region during 2008, followed by Sony's PlayStation 3 and, finally, Microsoft's Xbox 360. Back in April, the Wii hit a peak with almost 180,000 units sold, while its rivals only managed to sale around 90,000 units each.

However, Nintendo's financial results (beware! Japanese page ;)) suggest that Microsoft's recent Xbox 360 price cuts pushed the console forward a lot, since last month, the PS3 has been overrun by Microsoft's console.

Finally, it seems Nintendo ruled the European handheld market too, with around 225,000 Nintendo DS sold in July, compared to the PSP's peak of only about 50,000 units.

That's it for today, but if you want to help us have our own games statistics, please be kind and share with us that big secret - how many consoles do you own, and which one do you like most?
