Second Life Gateway to Real World Announced by NEC

Soon you will be able to enter Second Life on your cell phone via the NEC’s IP Voice and Media Solution, the SCI platform, announced at the Mobile World Congress 2008.
The connection between the real life and the virtual one will be made using the NEC Communicator which will be located in Second Life and the exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to use an avatar and make calls to other people in the real world using the Communicator.

More than that, the visitors that will try the system will be able to send SMS, e-mails and IP messages from the virtual world to the real one.
According to NEC’s press release, the Communicator will be placed at Tokutoku Pocket Island in Second Life and this will happen during Mobile World Congress.
