Sims 3 is the sequel to the Sims 2, a highly successful game produced by Electronic Arts. The concept of Sims 3 is just like the one of its predecessors which means that you get to control your Sims, which are people, in different activities which are just like the ones you encounter in real life, from social ones, to jobs, to relationships, and so on.

The game takes place inside a fictional neighborhood, and for the first time in the Sims universe, what you do outside of your house matters as much as what you do inside of it. Another new feature which was introduced in Sims 3 is the Story Progression one thanks to which all the other Sims from the neighborhood progress together with your character. This means that the Non Playable Characters can get jobs, can develop relationships, and they can die as well. The moods of the characters, which in this game are called “moodlets”, can change as well depending on the situation. For example a character who needs to take a shower will be in a bad moo whereas one who just ate a good meal will be a in a good mood.

This game also incorporated the Whishes system which presents you what each character desires. If you continue to fulfill the wishes of the characters, their happiness will continue to grow. You can change the duration of time which the Sims live whenever you want, however each Sim will pass through the same stages: baby, toddler, child, teen, young adult, adult, and elder. The Sims can die by old age or they can die by other events such as fire, starvation, electrocution, drowning, and so on. The Sims 3 has increased the number of skills that you can choose from. You can choose from such skills as painting, writing, tinkering, and so on. In order to get better and better at them you have to accomplish certain tasks such as writing a certain number of novels or certain number of genres and so on.

Just like in the other games the Sims can go to work but here unlike the other games you can control what he/she does at work. You can make tour Sim work hard which will assure a promotion much faster but it will make him more tired or you can slack which will make your Sim more relaxed, but if you get caught you will have to suffer the consequences. There are lots of careers to choose from, such as Professional Athlete, Astronaut, Musician, Doctor and so on. The game also introduced the Opportunities concept which allows you to perform an opportunity in order to earn various rewards.
