Resistance 3
The Resistance series has always divided the crowd. While one part loves the war-torn, Chimera-invaded world, others feel the game lacks a certain distinguishing spark. Resistance 3 comes out after a few years after the events of the second part of the series. While playing the game, you don on the role of Joseph Capelli. When the world is being taken over by aliens, duty calls and Joseph will need to travel to New York and fight against the Chimera menace and end it once and for all.

The plot of the game is filled with several clichéd twists you will probably see coming a mile away. At times, R3 finds the sweet spot between difficulty, intensity and satisfaction, while at other times it varies between the boredom of killing a horde of enemies and frustration of constant ambushes. Making matters worse is the very annoying navigation system in the game. You will find yourself getting stuck as the objective marker will not pop for long periods of time, thereby leaving you running around a level in circles. You will find yourself spending a lot of time in the game, in the dark, as the game tries dabbling in survival horror territory with some interesting results.
Unlike other action games, Resistance 3 does not allow for a regenerating health system, which means you have to hunt around for health packs across the battlefield. This isn’t the deal breaker, but is a feature that will not suit players who are used to healing themselves. However, one feature that everyone will love about this game is the responsive control scheme. The game boasts of some of the tightest controls in a PS3 shooter. The tight controls are accompanied with a large armory of diverse weapons that include usual stuff like carbines and shotguns, but also some exotic weaponry that let you freeze and explode enemies or see and fire through walls. All weapons have an alternate fire and they automatically upgrade as you use them.
In Resistance 3, you will never find a shortage of weapons or ammunition, but the game offers quite a challenge. It pummels you with intense set pieces, and at these times it is important to choose the right tool for the particular hob in hand. There a few boss fights which are very daunting to look at, some standing taller than Capelli. To bring them down you will need to use your standard shoot at the glowing parts routine.
Resistance 3 is a decent looking game, except that it has brown tint. The game world is very well designed and reflects the chaos and despair brought o by an alien invasion. Apart from that, some of the boss fights also assaults your senses with scripted events.
You can also play this game online. It also supports the multi-player format. The multi-player format is pretty intense and interesting. It offers a multitude of modes such as the standard death match. However the matchmaking seems imbalanced as all the strong characters are put together in one team, while noobs ran around clueless.
Overall Resistance 3 is a great game for people who are interested in core action games. The game emits a ‘been there done that’ vibe. The only thing that lets this emotion out is the ammunition and weapons.
