While beating somebody in the middle of the street is - clearly - illegal, I think that GTA is not sick. In fact, as long as kids are not playing it, become addicted, and then go on a rampage in the neighborhood, everything's fine. Rape games, on the other hand, are simply the result of some sick mind at work. No, there are no exceptions!

Some time ago, we talked about RapeLay being banned. Nothing out of ordinary here, really. I know, it's a game, and as long as only adults play it, it shouldn't be such a big deal, right? Well, the funny part is that now, according to the latest reports, RapeLay won't get banned at all.

Good... or bad, take it as you wish. So... what now? My 5 cents - they should be careful about the content of those games. After all, adult games are fine with me, but rape games, as I previously said, aren't OK at all!

The conclusion? On the 2nd of June, there will be some unconfirmed meeting regarding further regulations on rape games, but since nothing has been officially confirmed so far, it could be a ban, or it could be... nothing. We just need to wait and see. Anyway, no matter what happens, there are still plenty of interesting games to enjoy before even trying some virtual rape.

Remember Doom? The one and only, first-of-its-kind? Well, Doom may not have been the first FPS, and despite the fact it had to walk in the shadow of Wolfenstein and Quake, it surely managed to become more than just "another first person shooter," that's a fact!

Now, it seems history is hitting us back, and the good old Doom will be reborn on a new platform... the iPhone! While a few months ago it was only about making waves, now id's head John Carmack has thrown a bunch of details regarding the upcoming iPhone port of the golden PC classic.

While Carmack talked more about how they did it, I honestly don't care much about that part. The truth is that, according to his reports, Doom for iPhone works and looks just great, and that's what we all need to know!

Oh, yeah, sorry about that - there's one more thing to know before moving on - the release date, of course! So... when is Doom for iPhone coming? As early as next month, so get ready to go through it once again!

The games industry seems to be immune to this crisis, and most analysts weren't expecting it. On the other hand, I don't see it as something astonishing, since when I have nothing to do, I usually enjoy a beer with my friends... or a good game. Times of trouble are also times when brilliant ideas hit you, and that's why I think the games industry has a lot to gain during these years.

According to Square Enix president, Yoichi Wada, the games industry is close to entering a "second stage of growth," and this isn't only about the company he's leading. "Some people say that demand for games has levelled off. In some respects this is true, but in others it is not. I think some people say it's levelled off because they believe... growth has almost reached its limit," said Mr. Wada.

The good part is that, as I see it, this stage of growth for the gaming industry should climb up as the crisis will go down, so Square Enix's contribution to this will fit in just great. According to the same Yoichi Wada, "This is expressed in our corporate philosophy statement: To spread happiness across the globe by providing unforgettable experiences."

No more crisis, unforgettable gaming experiences... that's what I would like to see in the future! My guess is that we'll have to wait at least 1-2 years until that happens, but it's good to know that, not so long from this moment, things will get better.
