QUBE-The Puzzle Game
Toxic Games’s latest launch takes you to a secret passage where you have to work your way down by moving blocks

Q.U.B.E. short form for Quick Understanding of Block Extrusion is the latest launch by Toxic Games. The game takes you to a secret passage from where you will have to find your way by solving puzzles and moving blocks. When you play this game you will experience a sense of nostalgia especially if you have played the Valve game, Portal in the past. However, the games are not similar in any regard except that they look very similar.
Disappointingly, although Q.U.B.E. belongs to the puzzle genre, it fails to create the kind of intriguing and fun world that Portal or Valve created. In Q.U.B.E. there is no story created and therefore you will feel as though you are playing for no reason or goal. Mystery blankets the game right from the beginning, while it may generally be a good thing it somehow does not work in its favor. In the sense, while playing the game you are suddenly introduced to a character without any information such as name or background of the character. You are just able to see the character and therefore have no idea as to why you are there in the first place and what you are supposed to do.
You find yourself waking up in an elevator moving downwards and all you know is that you are slipping on a pair of super-gloves that have penlights at its tips. And then you may find yourself in this sterile facility that has stark white walls. The room is filled with colorful intermittent blocks which can all be handled differently. For instance, the blue blocks can be stepped upon in order to raise it in the air and the red blocks can be raised by touching them with the super-gloves. There is a nice tutorial that the game takes you through. The tutorial explains everything you need to about the game.
Q.U.B.E really shines with its puzzles that have been worked out logically. The puzzles are very challenging to keep you intrigued to continue to the next level, but never a headache to solve. Plus, the game does such a fantastic job in training you on the basics that you will find yourself playing like a pro in no time. You can never get bored with Q.U.B.E. because the puzzles keep changing constantly. You are constantly put through various scenarios, plus new block types are always being introduced in the game play.
Although the game play is really good, the real problem lies within the actual basis of the game itself. You feel lost in the world of this game because there is no personality or basis in the game. The lack of a timer or score keeping board just puts you off and you are left feeling hopeless. The only thing that keeps you intrigues is that what the next puzzle holds for you. But you’re not sure why you are playing the game and solving all the puzzles and where it will lead you eventually.
The only right thing in Q.U.B.E. is its brilliant puzzles. Apart from that there is very little scope of it being a great game. You can play this game if you love solving puzzles but do not expect anything more than that.
